Jacques Vallee on Tim Binnall

Free episodes:

Good grief - YES!

I was totally thrilled to hear you talking to him.

I also heard an interview on Coast to Coast, maybe - 6 months ago...

The "trilogy" his was a really important event in my life.

peace,
MikeC!

Jacques Vallee has always been a big hero of mine and I've read most of his books.
It's great to see him coming back to the field again!
I do feel, however, that he could be a little more pro-active in challenging the government position on releasing ufo material. For the most part he seems very conflict-shy and weary of pissing off the "powers that be".It's really a pity, since he's perspective and intellectuall honesty is so badly needed in the public discourse on this matter.

I have read that Dr. Jacques Vallee has been a member of Anton Lavey's Church of Satan.

This comes from the Church of Satan's very own website. I read elsewhere that Vallee was a priest in the Church of Satan.

[FONT=Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif]"Since its founding, LaVey’s Church of Satan attracted many varied people who shared an alienation from conventional religions, including such celebrities as Jayne Mansfield and Sammy Davis Jr., as well as rock stars King Diamond and Marilyn Manson, who all became, at least for a time, card-carrying members. He numbered among his associates Robert Fuest, director of the Vincent Price “Dr. Phibes” films as well as The Devil’s Rain; Jacques Vallee, ufologist and computer scientist, who was used as the basis for the character Lacombe, played by Francois Truffaut in Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind; and Aime Michel known as a spelunker and publisher of Morning of the Magicians."

I don't believe in Satan, but this is kind of wierd, isn't it? Why should Vallee be a Satanic Priest?

Perhaps the honorable hosts will try to get a soundbite from Dr. Vallee the next time he is on the show? Try to squeeze a "Hail Satan!" out of him.

That video makes those people look pretentious and stupid. Not quite fitting for Dr. Vallee, I think. Strange.

I know that Marilyn Manson was also made a priest by LaVey. He said in an interview that it's meaningless. He just kinda makes his celebrity friends honorary priests (probably as a means of boosting his credibility.)

I enjoyed Vallee's appearance on Binnall, and thought it was a good interview. I still think the interview I heard with him on Paracast was the most illuminating.

Lavey died before MM I thought. No?

Anton died in 97' so I guess it's possible. Most Satanist are actually very intelligent and if I may dare say, gentle people. To truly understand the faith of Satanism one needs to completely drop all the Christian whispering regarding it's down fall. Just my 2 cents... No I'm not by the way :D

Otay, I thought he died long long ago. I'm not a big fan.

Too truly understand satanism, would require one be really really bored. I know, because I looked into it back before there was the internet. Why? The boogie man fiction so many idiots believed was a true interest to me. Just like Santa Claus was when I was 5. I find it fascinating, having grown ups tell me Metallica and Ozzy is of Satan, meanwhile they're preachers and my own parents (who abused me, it was called discipline in those days though) treated me more unfairly, but listen to Billy Joel.

Ps. I like Pressure, and the Stranger by Billy Joel. Not knockin him completely.

In my life, I have met atheist that act with more morals than Christians. I find that kinda funny. Only met a few "Satanist". I think they did it out of rebelion. They smoked pot, maybe stole every now and then from stores, but other than that were quite passive and laid back. Quiet, didn't give people much shit really.

Anything based on the bible is fukin stupid to me though. Do I care to argue about it? No. What would be the point? I'd end up making sense, and those that believe in talking snakes wouldn't understand it etc.

The faith is extremely simple: Do whatever you want, just don't hurt anyone physically. Step on your neighbor to get by if you must. It's hedonism meets reaganomics dressed in a Halloween costume.
