I think the evidence presented by Maccabee (and other sources e.g. the on-site interviews of Gulf Breeze residents and newspaper editor shown in Unsolved Mysteries who said they saw the same object with their lying eyes), suggest that there was a wave of UFO sightings in GB FL and at least some of Ed Walters' photos are legit.
I don't give much credence to the story about "paper model UFO, left at Walters' old home when he moved out, only to be 'discovered' by some boy", it looks to me like a frame job.
WRT Kevin Randle, my feeling was that he was trying to position himself as a "distinguishing Ufologist" by rejecting as many "controversial" cases as possible, but only stand his ground in the case of Roswell.
Walter's wasn't the only witness, Maccabee even saw something strange. Numerous people saw and recorded a variety of things in the sky. Maccabee's investigation of the photos led him to believe they were genuine. Ed's construction of the stereo camera at the Maccabee's instruction paints him in a highly cooperative light. The whole affair cost him a great deal of business and may have contributed to his divorce, I'm not sure. If he faked it all it was a will orchestrated flight of lunacy for sure.
Wow, ancient thread! I'm interested in the Gulf Breeze story, but just know the highlights. Supposedly there was a lot more to it than just "Mr. Ed," but he's contaminated everything.
What I'm uncertain about is: Did things start with Ed, or did he just capitalize on sightings in the area with his photo conspiracy?
Worth it's own show in my opinion, providing you can round up someone to present the material. Weird story, with even weirder conspiracy theories swirling around it. Sounds like a perfect fit for Nick Redfern, if he's covered it.Then on top that, you have the Gulf Breeze Six affair.
