A new year and some of the same old questions. I don't look for guru's but I do find some people more challenging and their thoughts worth comtemplating. This guy is one of those folks. From a young age I have wondered "what am I?" Then as I got older I started thinking "What is God?" I would love to see this guy as a guest on the show. It would be a good break from the u.f.o. believer vs skeptic debate. "Not that there's anything wrong with that." :cool:

I suspect that as technology "links" us , we will eventually reach a hive mind status, where the i am, is replaced with we are.

As he says these are constructs, born of our enviroment, as that changes so too will the construct
 
While I don't share the belief that "we" will ever replace "I" or me, I can say that I have read over the Ray Kurweil site so at least I know some of where you are coming from. I don't think this is what Peter Russell is saying but at the same time I can't say I agree with all of his views. I find in my 54th going on 55th year on earth that I know much less than I did when I was younger. :-) I still believe we are more than the sum of our parts but my dogma hasn't survived intact. Maybe that's a good thing but it sure makes things real open ended. ;) I really don't want a hive mind. I'm not that much of a people person. :p
 
On the contrary, this is very relevant to ET and will be part of the huge paradigm shift triggered if we encounter sentience originating not from this earth.

Peter Russell says humans develop its sense of I through social and environmental interaction.

As a group, humans also have this sense of I which is challenged and intrigued by UAP. Are we really who we think we really are ?

Who would I be in relation to these external visitors ? Will I be able or am I able to interact with them ?
