Here's what Greer has to say about Hawking's view:

Well, this just isn't true or at least he has revised his thinking which he has done numerous times to fit with current scientific thinking. He in fact says that time travel IS possible albeit only travel to the future. But he gives plenty of detail concerning the physics of potential time travel both ways and why he thinks it is possible one way but not the other. .

I know for a fact it's true, heard it with my own ears from him. Or at least his computer he talks through via a tv show. Here's a Wiki article mentioning his argument. Wikimedia Error





Stephen Hawking once suggested that the absence of tourists from the future constitutes an argument against the existence of time travel—a variant of the Fermi paradox. Of course this would not prove that time travel is physically impossible, since it might be that time travel is physically possible but that it is never in fact developed (or is cautiously never used); and even if it is developed, Hawking notes elsewhere that time travel might only be possible in a region of spacetime that is warped in the right way, and that if we cannot create such a region until the future, then time travelers would not be able to travel back before that date, so "This picture would explain why we haven't been over run by tourists from the future."[16] Carl Sagan also once suggested the possibility that time travelers could be here, but are disguising their existence or are not recognized as time travelers.[17]

To most people, Greer didn't look like such a money-grubbing charlatan ego-inflated cult leader before 2001. He may have been one, but it wasn't so obvious.

Most people who know about him? Dunno if what you say is true or not. I stopped taking him seriously after his claims that he has footage of vectoring in ET craft and never disclosed that footage. For the head of the Disclosure project, he sucks at disclosing.
