Definitely Morrowind for me :D. I am getting nostalgic just thinking about it! Loved the Tomb Raider games as well.

Battletech for me, either online global multiplay or D&D style
using these

Blimey ... my first thought was "Morrowind" too. You have to be rather patient with it at first but then it sucks you right in ... schluppp ... its like leading another life after a while. Oblivion (the sequel to Morrowind) is absolute childs play and deadly dull and boring in comparison ... even though the graphics are a bit prettier.

At the moment, I'm playing Baldurs Gate after finally finding the entire BG saga in a boxed set thing. Enjoying it much more than I expected. Great fun watching gibberlings explode into lovely meaty chunks :D

What are those Mike? Models? Resin Kits? Cardstock? They're sweet!

As for me I'm not really on the videogaming up-and-up, no time you see. Last good game I played was HL2.

Hmmm... probably Robotech: Battlecry for modern games (Mike, mecha should not overheat or swipe designs from others without permission). For classic video games I still bust out Metroid and Sinistar.

yes the creators FASA did indeed poach some designs from robotech for which they got sued and subsequently they stopped using those designs.
however the battletech and mech warrior genre went on regardless and the chassis's we see today are all originals, which includes the ones ive posted above.
mechs do overheat and heat is very much part of the game, a pilot who overides the automatic shutdown when his mech gets hot , not only suffers a drop in piloting and gunnery skill, but also risks loss of conciousness and internal ammo explosion.

as for my models i dont consider them "swiped" any more than someone who takes a lead figure (game originally played on hex boards with lead figures and dice) and paints it up in house davion livery.
ive simply scratch built my play peices in a larger scale which are used to play "classic battletech" outside instead of on hex boards.

above is a stolen robotech design, designated the 75 ton marauder in battletech, the one in front is a repainted robotech toy, the one in the background a balsa copy in smaller scale

It's hard to pick a favorite.

Over the past year I've really enjoyed:
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Team Fortress 2
Gothic III
Oblivion: Shivering Isles
Half Life 2 (Episodes 1 & 2)
Dawn of War: Dark Crusades

Those would be the best titles I played in 2007 (though some came out before then). Supreme Commander and Civ IV+expansions deserve honorable mentions as well.

My favorite game of all time . . . probably Ultima III on the Commodore64 or Legend of Zelda on the original NES. Those two were the games that first had me staying up long hours to play. They were the seeds from which the mighty oak that is my gaming addiction sprung.

Hey, Mike, I wasn't dissing your work at all. They are really good pieces (Wood? Seriously? Being a styrene guy, that surprised me... I thought everyone was all about resin now!). Wasn't that lawsuit, and I think it was more than just Macross that they swiped from... if I recall some of the designs are simplified bad guy models from the original Gundam series or something from about that time, a big part of what forced FASA to fold? At one point I was a big wargamer and I probably have an original Battletech set around somewhere... It is actually a well thought out game and the early videogames were the only really good giant robot stuff available. I just think that the overheating loses a big part of the anime feel that it was otherwise released to capitalize on.

It didn't help that FASA printed a great deal of really bad artwork back in the day! Their Star Trek and Doctor Who rulebooks were chocked full of it!

Civilization II and X-Com, with love for Master of Orion II. Also had fun with Star Control, Unreal Tournament, Doom, and Wolfenstein 3D.

I don't play games much anymore.

Dude just played and beat Doom II again over holiday break. Classic indeed!

I'm a HALO Whore. I'm on XBL just about every night, if anyone wants to kill each other sometime.

Next to that, Half Life, and this one I just picked up called "Stranglehold", by John Woo...yeah, that John Woo...so you can imagine it's content.

Street Fighter II, Ken was my favorite character.

Yeah, I used to play that game until the sun came up. I don't know if I had a favorite character, but I did play Ken the most often because I really liked his tornado kick.

Ranking up there with that one is Mario Kart. I always drove the Bowser car.

This may be way back, but has anyone ever immersed themselves in the King's Quest games? I fell in love with the Sierra gaming engine as a kid. My greatest videogame victory was King’s Quest IV because it was incredibly hard and I completed it without any cheats! The games using this engine started my addiction!

Thanks Michael, yes i use balsa for the most part because it gives me the pitted cast metal look im after, i do use plastic for details and where i want a "sheet metal" look
