Face of bizarre sea creature Hallucigenia revealed

Fascinating, but confusing. This quotation from later in the piece seems to contradict the speculation that this lifeform had a 'head':

"What our study shows is that it has a different composition from the animal. And rather than representing part of its body, it actually represents decay fluid - the contents of its guts - squeezed out as the animal was buried and fossilised," said Dr Smith."

I read recently that very early organisms thought not to have had heads are now theorized to have gradually developed them. It was in reading portions of the books linked in another thread, which I'll post when I find it.

I find all fossils enchanting as well as interesting. You too?
