Skilled Investigator
Hi all,

This will probably turn out to be a rather long-winded post but if you have the time or inclination I hope you folks at least give it some thought.

Last night I did a gig up in Leicestershire UK and, as usual, when I eventually got home late last night it took a few hours to settle down and go to bed. Soon as I got all my gear indoors I went straight to the Paracast and got absorbed again.

Incidently, one of our long-time fans showed up; a guy who shall remain nameless, who is a pilot in the USAF. He is currently posted over here. I quizzed him as to whether or not he had had any experiences with ufo's.

We didn't have very long to speak but he told me he had been posted
at Area 51 some time ago, which I think he referred to as "The Block", and then told me of the kind of things he and his buddies had got up to. Quite funny really, but that's another story.

Like I said, we didn't have long to speak but I have his number and will be speaking again soon. When I do, I will let you all know of what I hear, though I did say I wouldn't want to compromise his position or say anything potentially dangerous re security.

Anyway, all that is not really relevant I just thought you might find it interesting.

Now to get to the point.
I just read the posting by Mogwa re "Paracast art gallery".

I think that's a great idea and would like to contribute, however I am not very computer literate so I can't join in.

Having said that it got me thinking.

Here's my idea.

What about starting a thread where members write an outline, much like a screenplay I guess. For a ufo/detective story.
By that, I mean, say I wrote a few paragraphs to start a story then the next person adds a few more and so on.

Another reason I am suggesting this is, I also read Gene's posting
re "is the ufo field a male dominated one".

An interesting point I think. I don't know whether or not you folks agree but it does sometimes seem to me that men tend to obsess about things more than women, I certainly do with regard to ufo's.

I have talked to my wife about this and she tells me that in her world at least, she dosen't have the time to indulge such things.

Anyway to get back to the story idea.
When my dear wife does have time to relax she loves to read.
She tends to like thrillers/detective storys usually with a lot of gory forensic analysis that mystifies me considering her gentle nature.

Just say if there is any interest in this story idea, knowing Gene's literary abilities it could in time get knocked into shape as a novel say and put out as an E-book.

I have no knowledge of how that could be done or even if it's worthwhile but if done like a sort of X-Files type of thing.

A. I thought it might be of more interest to women.

and,

B. Maybe it would be a good way to generate some money for the Paracast.

I, like all of you I think, very much appreciate what Gene and Dave
have created, and feel we could all join in on this and give something back for all their hard work.

Here's a possible scenario:

A London-based, newly-signed rock band whilst returning from a low paid but important support gig up in let's say, York, catch a flat and have to pull over to change a tyre.

It just so happens that this occurs at a point on the road that is fairly heavily wooded either side and there are no lay-byes, but fortunately there is a small track leading into the forest used by the forestry people.

After having to unload all their equipment to allow them to jack the van up on the soft ground, they find, or rather don't find, any wheel wrench.

As all this occurrs at a point in time pre mobile/cell phones,
two of the guys wander off to get help. Leaving the other three
with enough time to break out a couple of guitars and and work on some new song idea.

It's a great riff and and it just writes itself, if you know what I mean.
However after some time let's say "Steve" realises that "Jon" is hitting a bum note somewhere.

They play on but it keeps happening. Always at the same point.
They zero in on the offending phrase and find nothing wrong with what Jon is playing and after a few more runs around they realise that the bum note was actually coming from somewhere behind the van.

Then........?

That's all just a very obvious start, considering that at the moment I'm in a very musical frame of mind. I could make other suggestions. So could anyone else, but that's basically the essence of what I'm trying to suggest at least.

Anyway, I can see lots of difficulties with this concept and that it may just not be feasible after all.

Now I really have to sleep, this idea kept me awake all night.

Night, night.

Mark.
