CIA Center on Climate Change

Free episodes:

P.E.
Perhaps this is old news to some of you but I wasn't aware that the CIA had a center on climate change (est. 2009). Apparently their mission is to make secret plans in preparation for dramatic climate changes and all related work is classified for reasons of national security. A couple weeks ago the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) sent a request for information under FOIA but were denied. The CIA's reply: “We completed a thorough search for records responsive to your request and located material that we determined is currently and properly classified and must be denied in its entirety…,”

I'm not big on conspiracy theories but this should make anyone wonder what is going on. Why do we have the CIA doing secret research on the *edit* effects of climate change?

The FAS article can be found here: http://www.fas.org/blog/secrecy/2011/09/cia_climate.html

The CIA's response on 9/13/2011 can be found here: http://www.fas.org/sgp/news/2011/09/cia091311.pdf

probably because of the scam being perpetrated. the "warmists" leading this scam realize they have been busted and there is a need to find something to offset their exposed conspiracy. there is NOTHING humans can do to stop natural climate change and the looming ice age will prove that.

The whole concept of our civilization (which in many respects isnt civil at all) changing the climate is a massive scam perpetuated by those who want to tax us for breathing out that terrible poison called carbon dioxide. You know the stuff that plants and trees use to make oxygen and create a cycle of life. The same ones that promote this don't even factor in the suns affect on climate in there study.

Let me clarify this a bit. The center does not study climate change. Their mission is "not the science of climate change, but the national security impact of phenomena such as desertification, rising sea levels, population shifts, and heightened competition for natural resources."

Part of this mission statement reads: "The new Center does more than bring together in a single place expertise on an important national security topic—the effect environmental factors can have on political, economic, and social stability overseas. It will also be aggressive in outreach to academics and think tanks working the issue. The goal is a powerful asset recognized throughout our government, and beyond, for its knowledge and insight."

They state that they outreach to academics, think tanks and beyond with knowledge and insight but when the FAS asked for ANY data they were refused because the information is "properly classified". It sounds like they slipped this center by us with the pretext of it being some kind of public service then did an about face. The fact that a CIA center does more then its mission statement shouldn't surprise anyone but they aren't even holding up the facade of what they claim their mission is.

If anyone out there enjoys chasing down a good solid conspiracy lead here's one for you.

*edit* By the way the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) is a "think tank" with a board of sponsors that consists of over 60 Nobel Laureates and they don't qualify to receive a single document from the center. Do you not smell something funny?

Regards,
Gary

Yes it does smell funny.

Desertification, rising sea levels, population shifts, and heightened competition for natural resources are phenomena? Those all seem rather natural to me.
