Hi folks,

Got a kind of strange question for you all and in particular Christopher O'Briern,Hi Chris :).

Firstly I am not up to speed with current news on this, it's only just occured to me so I haven't done any homework.

As I understand it biochips were developed for the fisheries industry and are now widely used for pets, and that one of the key features of the system is the ability to track their movements.

My question is, if a biochip were to be covertly implanted in say a cow.
Is it possible or normal practice, to look for one when investigating a Mutilation case?

I have many problems with the whole issue surrounding these devices, and although I am not one for reading too much into things like "The book of revelations" for instance, I do feel a bit anxious about these things. Particularly as our world is experiencing such difficult times economically, and to be honest I am so very, very suspicious of those in power and their REAL agendas that I wonder just how long it will be before their use starts to become a REAL issue.

I did a photo shoot as part of story on Army Vets on airbases. One of my series of images was close ups of this device and the syringe that implants it. They use them on the security forces dogs and any pet that comes through the door, this is my take on it.

All pets are scanned now, so I would not put it past any of the animals that are found mutilated that they are scanned first. Matter of fact I think it is common practice out here for cattle and horses to be implanted since a lot of the southwest is free range pasture.

Have a good friend who just retired from veterinarian practice so I will ask him.

Like I said I am not up to speed with how and where these devices are being used. What you said about most cattle and horses being implanted is helpful though.

Oddly enough, both my pets are chipped. They seem okay with it. I just worry sometimes that it might shorten their life.
 
Most dogs are chipped these days. Mine is. Makes it easier to identify and contact the owner in case they are lost. The chips are read with a hand held scanner, with a very short range. In some animals the chips will actually migrate away from the insertion site (usually between the shoulders) and the chips have been found in legs, forepaws and other odd locations.

I should clarify what it was that prompted me to ask. All I was thinking was if a cow or horse were to be implanted without the owners permission then it could be tracked. By who and for what purpose who knows, but in relation to cattle mutilations if it were some shady government/military plan to shake up and confuse people then if one were to be found in a carcase it might help explain things. Having said all that Laurence Z's response kinda shut that idea down.
