Bigfoot Bash 2012

Snidely Whiplash

Paranormal Maven
So I live in Michigan and I decided to take the family and check out the Michigan Magazine's Bigfoot Bash. My folks went last year as they live only a few miles from Michigan Magazine in northern Michigan. We certainly met some strange characters while we were there. They had some speakers from the BFRO and some other independent researchers. One of the presenters was a man named Jim Sherwood who is a local of man who had some tremendous claims concerning having a communion with Bigfoot. He claimed to have an ongoing gift exchange with the beast. He would leave some donuts and the next day when he returned he would find polished stones where the donuts were. He also claimed that Bigfoot was leaving sticks arranged in different designs at the site of the where these things took place. One such arrangement was in the mathmatical symbol for Pi. As strange as the sounds. He told us that during the confrence at night was doing a show for bigfoot with a major cable television network, although he would not reveal the network or show. He also made the assertion that rival bigfoot hunters were trying to sabotage his work. As one the organizers of the confrence put it to me directly, "he was going to get to the north pole first." I would like to see Gene and Chris interview Jim if they are interested. (I could get his contact information) Although I find some of his claims over the top, I think it would make an interesting show. I am going to include some photos I took with my phone just to give the event a little context. I would love to here the thoughts on this from my fellow paracasters.

The photos are of Jim and some of his evidence, I also included a photo of my youngest hanging out with bigfoot.

There's a "Bigfoot Information Session" in a neighboring community this coming Sunday, being presented by Colorado Bigfoot Research and BFRO. Apparently it's being hosted here due to all of the sightings that consistently occur in the area. I've never gone to anything like this but all of the stories I keep hearing have grabbed my attention, including a spate of recent sightings. I'm not sure I'll be able to attend but I'm going to try. Could be interesting. It is something many people in this area take very seriously.

I'd like to see some Bigfoot researcher or organization on the program, if he/they are serious and honest about this topic. I have a hard time believing anyone who says that Bigfoot made the mathematical symbol for Pi. For one thing, what would that symbol possibly mean for Bigfoot? Is he taking a geometry course? Jim might be a colorful guest but could he actually contribute anything useful to the conversation? Anyone who says that he has a show with a "major cable television network" but won't say which one makes me think this is a person trying to pretend he's more important than he really is and therefore cannot offer anything concrete. It's not as if he's trying to stay anonymous if everyone knows his identity. This sounds more like a "look at me" kind of character who will say anything that makes him appear interesting, telling people what they want to hear. Any shreds of credibility could be lost by having someone who makes outlandish, unsubstantiated claims. It's not my place to say whether or not other Bigfoot researchers are sabotaging his work. I honestly have no idea if that happens. I do think that more credible people could be found, not that it's my call.

I thought the same thing with the cable show but they may have made in sign some sort of gag order or something. I agree about the Pi thing as well, I was laughing on the inside when he said that. Speaking of that another researcher from Chicago used a lot of gps to map supposed bigfoot structures said the a certain configuration in the woods he investigated lined up with all the major roads in the area, like it was some sort of map. Very quirky stuff to say the least.

Snidely - I could not agree more that Jim would be an interesting show guest. Make sure you post in the guest suggestions bit cos there is no other way to make sure your idea gets seen.

Lately I've become more interested in the possibility of these hominids. It is strange that geographically distant cultures report these creatures long before worldwide comms?

I noticed that and asked a couple of the researchers about that same thing. They never really gave me a straight answer. My hypothesis is Bigfoot has one leg and hops much like the incredible hulk.

I watched a Bigfoot doc last night and there is this very eccentric British-born big-game hunter type who runs some bigfoot research body, based I think in Northern California.

Anyway, he says they have a theory that these hominids may be intelligent enough to know to stay away from humans and that they might even try to disguise their own tracks in an effort to keep secret. It does seem weird, all these single footprints although I believe there are some tracks that have been found which contain several left and right prints.

The more time goes on, the more I am convinced Bigfoot does exist. Reports in the US go back two hundred years and he is ingrained in many native American cultures. How on earth could these Indian nations make art about bigfoot if they had never come into contact with any primates? Also the fact that reports of these hominids are world-wide. There absolutley is enough territory for an intelligent animal to keep away from humans if they want. They are capable of surviving in dense forest that we would avoid. I think they are probably seen when they have little choice e.g if they have to migrate or move for food and mating etc.

It was put very well in this documentary that if you think about the population of bears in the forests that join California all the way up to British Columbia and the fact that you dont come across dead bear carcasses, then the fact there would be far, far less dead bigfoots and the fact that dying animals retreat to remote areas, coupled with the fact the intellgence of bigfoot might come into play, then there is no reason at all to think it strange no-one has a body to date.

If bigfoot is supposed to be nocturnal, I think possibly using FLIR at night from a high vantage point or chopper, it may be possible to find some?

I am getting more into the quest for bigfoot as time passes cos there may be zero 'paranormal' about bigfoot and it is only their scarcity that makes them hard to prove.

I am not at that point with anything that is called "paranormal". I consider myself a skeptic, so I truly need empirical evidence to believe. Even though I have that stance, I still enjoy the shit out of the paranormal. It's been a lifelong love since I was a small boy. I still love me some bigfoot.

No Snidely - it was a Southpark reference. Southpark quite often will have the town's people getting together on some ridiculous mob-mentality issue, rampaging across town in unison shouting 'rabble rabble' etc cos they are a mob on the loose. You'd have to ask a better Southpark fan than I for the name of any episodes with this in but there are a few.

Randy, Stan's dad, is usually at the forefront of the rabble mentality, suffering from some mid-life crisis. Southpark is pure genius and surprisingly, the last few seasons have easily been their best which runs counter to most TV shows in which all the good ideas are gone early on. Not so with Southpark IMO.
