This shouldn't come as a surprise since, in 2010, the administration told NASA that its "foremost" directive was outreach to the Muslim world. Evidence of life on Mars, either past, present or merely plausible would stir up even more trouble among the crazies. I had little doubt that the administration would put the screws to NASA on this.

First, NASA said that the "data" would be something for the history books. But now, they're saying ... no, no, no -- we meant that we were just excited that the "mission" would be something for the history books. What a bunch of BS!!!

Poor NASA. Those guys can't even sneeze without somebody screaming "alien coverup."

The thing just got there. They've barely done anything. It's still in the preliminary stages of the mission. All they did was test some hardware and software functionality.

Relax, guys. The aliens don't show up until Act II.
