Shape: Fireball
Duration:3 hours
On a hot August night, my mom and I went down to the store for milk. (I was 12 ). It was 1967.

Going out our road, my mom judged where our lane was by the neighbor's yard lite. I wasn't paying attention when she said, "Oh, I thought that was Smiths' lite." When I looked up, we were past Smiths, and the "lite" was down in our woods.

We turned in our lane and our house was 200 yards or so back this lane. As we drove down the lane, this fire ball began to move. Not toward us but parallel to us in the opposite direction. My mom was so scared she said what are we gonna do. Well, I figured I didn't want to be in the car if this thing starts coming toward us, so I opened my car door and when the dome lite came on, it started moving faster, and zig zagging.

I reached the house, mom on my heel, and we told my brother and dad. They immediately grabbed their guns and we killed the lites. By the time we got focused looking out the windows, the fireball, which had been the size of a house, was a trail of embers.

We had a few horses and poneys, and at that time one pony was out of the pasture. As we looked out, this pony came running full blast, scared into the barn. Another striking aspect was that one our horses had passed. My dad was borrowing a backhoe the next day to bury him. The fireball had been at the location of the deceased horse.

As we processed this, we came to the conclusion that some hunters or something had set our horse on fire! As the evening progressed, 2 sets of lights about 100 yards from each other, began signaling each other. They reminded me of traffic signals. The lights were horizontal about 4 to 6 feet in height. They seemed to be signaling a code to each other.

The night wore on, it got late. My dad chalked it up to crazy hunters. The next morning, my brother and I got on our horses and headed straight to Lightning, the deceased horse. Like I said, it was late, dry August. There was absolutely NO sign of a fire. However, Lightning's stomach was flat and his rectum was cored. I never read about cattle mutilations till 68 or 69 in I think it was Mechanics Illustrated. And I was shocked. It all came to me then.

I used to have a bunch of these as a kid including this one.

But if i remember correctly that case was also featured in an issue.

I *ahem* found some of these on line that fell off the back of a truck and what a cool trip down memory lane.

Thanks for the reminder.

Hey, I found something cool. This showed up in one of the comics.

Remember this image?

I remember being fascinated by it as a kid. I mean, it looks totally Steve Austin, right?

Turns out it's a sponge.

I had that exact same one! Wonder if you can find them somewhere?

Yes you can get hard copies, i picked up all of the Voyage to the bottom of the sea ones (circa 1966).
But yes you call find these things online nowadays too. i have over 1500 issues of 2000AD on disk and backed up (over 60 gigs worth).
