There is no easy way to put this, so I will just repost the email that Gene sent me:

I’ve been to four hospitals and a rehab center.

I’ve had multiple MRIs, CTScans, ultrasounds and blood tests. And a minor surgical procedure.

I’m slowly getting better but it’s too slow.

So the best thing to do is sell the show.

If anyone would be interested in purchasing The Paracast from Gene, DM me and I will forward all information to Gene.

Devastated. This was Gene's baby and I feel so sad for him. On a personal level I am so much going to miss Gene doing the show.

The Paracast was the podcast I started listening to when I first returned to thinking about UFO's, and I met the show in it's very early incarnation in the Biedny days. When you look at the catalogue of shows, the entire Ufological history is there, and it's thanks to Gene's vision, knowledge, his historical association with many early pioneers of the paranormal and some interesting co-hosts along the way. It's quite the legacy. I met some really interesting people through the forums and I just want to say thanks for all the good times.

Well said

In not necessarily considering this thread as the Paracast’s eulogy, just wondering who could possibly fill Gene’s shoes, and then becomes apparent … no one. Sure, the website and show could be purchased by some deep pocketed autocrat (Elon) that would turn it into a shit show, or perhaps some wack job (same thing) that would drag it around until one literally pukes. At one point in time there were extremely bright individuals here that spent their entire lives in pursuing the mysteries that cannot be readily explained.

Gene must be really messed up in not being able to communicate through typing in letting the members know what’s going on, as one could possibly communicate with text via speech.

If he can at least speak, it may be appropriate for someone of import to interview him here one last time.

Most importantly, the show’s archives are invaluable as possessing historical interviews.

It’s been a great ride!

I for one wish him the very best.

I understand Gene is ill but without Gene Steinberg it is not the Paracast. I would prefer that we had some older shows released for six months and Gene came back

Agreed, but it takes vigilance and some nerdy work to administer most any website with a forum. However, if the member’s forum was temporarily disabled and various fair minded guest hosts without a cohost were able to provide an hour and a half show twice a month, folks may stick around until Gene was able to carry on. I remember when Decker among other talk show hosts would field calls from various listeners who would have questions for either Decker or one of his guests.

Over so many years and up until just recently The Paracast has provided a weekly show without fail, and if not mistaken Gene’s extended setback can possibly be attributed to simply walking a dog.

Why couldn’t it have been something more exhilarating like bungee jumping, or sky diving?

This really sucks …

I realize that only a select few will get this, but that one should definitely be added to JayVay's collection :p It's so "Gene" 🤣.

Unfortunately, while scouring the net there was not one reference pointing toward Ufological cannibalism.

Really sorry to hear this. I hope that Gene recovers and is able to enjoy a well deserved retirement. Hope to hear more of the paracast, perhaps someone else will grab the paranormal reins…

I really do not know how the Paracast can be the Paracast without Gene. It is like when Art Bell left coast to coast and George Noory took over. Totally different show. When you are well enough I will phone you and Barbara but I really will miss you Gene.

Ya, remember when they started calling Noory — "Snorey" :p. That wasn't really fair — because apparently George was a really good guy. Yet the show was never the same without Bell doing his thing. It lost its flavor, and Gene has his own indelible style too. Without him, it would be like trying to make a grilled Reuben with baloney — and nobody wants baloney. They want the real thing.

I wondered what happened, I still enjoy the old shows. Was looking for some new one's but now I know why. Thanks and good luck!
