Alien Mind Games & MJ 12

Exactly. One of the things a con man looks for in his mark is "the will to believe." People are more easily fooled when they want to be.

    Please respect Gene

I've respected Gene since I first heard about him, which was about two days after I got my first Mac. My admiration has only increased since then.

    Are we really free?

Well, like Kris Kristofferson wrote, "Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose." More true every day.

Sylvia Browne Busted on 911 Death.

Well, actually, she sorta did... It's called "The Gnosis institute" — and it has about as much to do with genuine "gnosis" as her soothsaying has to do with reality.

It's official; Ghost Hunters fakes it

LOL Interestingly, even professional wrestling (fake as it is) seems more "real" to me than Ghost Hunters.

The Secret Life of the Dog

I agree with you, Gareth. There is a thread here somewhere called "Another reason why advanced species should avoid us." It occurs to me that, until we humans can respect the non-human intelligent life already on this planet, we don't have any business exporting our small-mindedness (and all...

The Secret Life of the Dog

Yep. Dogs are much more intelligent than most people give them credit for. Another reason why dog is my co-pilot.

Sylvia Browne Busted on 911 Death.

For me, Sylvia Browne is busted every time she speaks. She has never been anything but a blatantly obvious charlatan.

Case Study - Jane Leade (1624-1704)

If nothing else, the Jane Leade stuff is a pretty good indication that a phenomenon lots of people think is just a modern folk tale -- an artifact of the "sci-fi age" -- is a phenomenon that has been happening for many hundreds of years, at least. And that would make it pretty important, I think.

Guest Idea - Colin Andrews for a new Crop Circle Show

Crop circles... If there was ever any truth to be found in that pond, I think somebody peed in it. (A whole lot of somebodies, actually.) My interest in diving into it has therefore diminished significantly.

Michio Kaku: we are a type 0 civilization

"Michio Kaku: 'We are a Type 0 Civilization.'" So what happens if/when this industrial civilization collapses (as some have suggested it is already in the process of doing)? Will our utter (and evident) lack of "mastery" over our energy use then make us a "Type -1 Civilization"?

    December 27th - Budd Hopkins & Doug

As you said: "Riveting." I felt the same way about this.

Best UFO Photographs According To David Biedny?

It's a shame. Slinging the "disinfo guy" appellation has gotten so silly that it's flung at just about anyone who gets disagreed with, at one point or another. (If there really are "disinfo guys" out there — and there probably are — the superabundance of such silliness would be an effective...

    The Russians WILL save us

I'm glad the Russians are taking this seriously, too — even though it seems abundantly clear that an industrial civilization in collapse and the global ecosystem it is destroying in order to survive will likely spell our doom long before any asteroid ever could.

    2012 = Mayan Calendar + biblical armageddon

Our culture uses self-created nightmares (like 2012) as an anesthetic against the very real threats it is also generating. Sort of like the function of a thrill ride at an amusement park: the fact that you're several hundred feet off the ground, and about to be plunged at near free fall speed...
