Paranormal Novice
Hi guys,

I have been watching a series on the History Channel called Ancient Aliens. Although familiar with the basic ideas behind the 'extraterrestrials as creators of mankind' theory, I was fascinated to hear of the similarities in the origin-of-mankind beliefs of various different cultures (Zulu, Hebrew, Native American etc)...

I was basically wondering if anyone could recommend a book or two about the subject that ties it all together and explores these beliefs a bit further?

Cheers in advance for any suggestions
Andy :)

There isn't much in the 'ancient aliens/astronauts' books that you can't read online. I'm biased and think most of it is garbage. On the other hand, it made a lot of sense to me some years back.

I'd suggest you read around the web and when you find a writer that gets your interest go get the book. Most of them go over the same old BS so spend your hard-earned wisely. It'd be nice to take a book and read it down the park or Southport 'beach' but the weather is saying stay indoors.

I have to agree. I was very dissapointed in the series. I have been tempted to download a Stichin book on my Ipod. But, I don't beleive it either so I haven't done it. Anybody got any good ufo book suggestions in general?

Thanks for the replies. I should say, it's not an idea I'm exactly sold on... I think what piqued my interest was the suggestion in the series that all these disparate cultures seemed to have very similar beliefs involving 'star men' etc, breeding with their ancestors - the implication obviously being that if the idea is quite so widespread, there might be something in it.

I agree. Sadly, I had looked forward to it. :-) Terrible show, interesting subject.

I have to admit, the episode i was watching tailed off quite dramatically towards the end - which is a shame as the 1st hour was fairly entertaining in parts. I'm still interested in the subject, I think I just want someone sensible to make sense of it for me!

Well, I've been reading The Gods of Eden by William Bramley here and there. It's available online in a few places.

Howdy Piggysbeeftrousers (?) : )

I suggest that you look at Graham Hancocks book, "Supernatural".... It can be downloaded on line and is quite a tome but I thought it was very interesting. After attacking some dogma around rock art and making a good case that it is decipherable and evidence of ancient use of entheogens he goes a step further and discusses the idea that the "shamanic initiation experience" as described by many practitioners has some uncanny similarities to the UFO abduction experience... Its all a bit speculative but if you are looking for ideas, he has some well presented ones...

Nothing besides coverage of politicians flapping their gums has caused me to hiss and yell at the TV as much as that Ancient Aliens series.
