In A Huddle

Free episodes:

BTW I am super aware that Randall's thread has been hijacked. @Randall I'll be cleaning this up - creating a new thread for 'the huddle' posts and move them all over to the new thread. It will happen. :)

But the bigger question is why are all the drip down menus entirely bust? You can't even insert a link here properly.
You mean the ones in the nav bar across the top? Or the ones in the post editing menus?
Whatever the case — they're working fine for me on my ancient Win 7 PC.

Regarding sizing. I'm aware that when we post we don't always know what size the graphic is going to be - when that happens to me - a humongous graphic showing up - I still don't know what size to re-size to. Does anyone have a suggestion on the best size to re-size to?
It's easy to resize a graphic on a PC using the built-in resize handles that appear after you insert the image during edit mode.
I imagine that doing it on a mobile phone is less intuitive.
The XenForo site has some good help pages.

Literally it's just the five of us with SRL+ lurking in the background like some kind of spiritual guide the way Ricky Poole was back in the day, along with Squirrel who has literally come out of the woodwork along with the occasional odd insert and Kanakaris (sp) posting a response on occasion.

I remember when the forum was populated with so many great characters, and it was a very dynamic spade with a lot of fascinating UFO insight, really some of the best I've ever seen online outside of Bruce Duensing's blogs and Max Tonnies Post Human Blues blog in the late 1990's & early 2000's.

Now the drop down menus stopped working.....what have we become
Yea I guess the days of forums are over. Now it's all discord and AI. Still for those of us who still enjoy the old ways this little group is ok and every so often when someone pulls the steak out of Genes heart we even get a message from him.
Seriously though we have had some characters pass through here. Agh the old days. They were great.

Since I have you both @Randall and @Richard Hawkins - and maybe even @Burnt State and @Red - might we have a huddle?

Then there's the issue of older posts that have past the poster's editing window that leaves admin to do the fixing. Gene wants some 'spring cleaning' done and I said I am game - particularly kettling posts into appropriate threads - or creating new threads from existing threads that have veered off - I'm thinking of @Red 's 'What are you reading?' thread - that needs cleaning up so Red can have the thread with content in line with his intent starting the thread and the posts that veered off topic can have their own thread. 'Spring Cleaning.'

If you see any thread you'd like cleaned up a bit let me know.
When I posted the ribs, it gave me an option to size down my pic to a thumb nail. It was still pretty good sized for a thumbnail. Yeah, if you want to clean up my thread, I wouldn't complain. Maybe we need to keep the covid stuff to one thread like we do politics.

This is what I get....the main header is not active and the drop down menu is also entirely inactive.

Howdy-Hey, so here we are. Doing my best. This is not professional work. If the chat site starts getting 'busy' Gene will have to recruit one of you to start helping out. For now it's me and I'm figuring it out as I go. I'm the bartender. Gene is up in his office. He may have an alien on site - careful.

When I rest from this evening which was pretty intense (for me), cleaning up 4 or 5 threads, with one still needing tending, I'll try to summarize what was discussed when we were in our 'huddle'. Thank you all for joining in. Meantime, go out to play, have fun, and check your guns at the door when you sashay in for some refreshment.

Question for Everyone: How would you define spamming a thread?
Repetition can be problematic. We also had a guy years ago that posted a sound that he claimed was caught on his camera. Turned out the sound was from a film, but had been manipulated a little bit. He got called out and he started spamming rando photos in that thread just to be an idiot. So sometimes it's dependent on the situation. Multiple posts trying to piss people off or derail the topic, I would consider spam.
If "he who I won't name" wants to post anti-vax youtube videos ad infinitum in his thread, that's his thread and that's his right, but constantly posting a topic that really isn't on topic with the thread, or when people aren't that interested in engaging with it can be an issue.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

I totally do not agree with him at all. However I suppose in a democratic society we should have the right to voice different opinions.

Thank you for your input - I agree in general but it can be iffy sometimes.

Agree. Especially when it's obvious trolling.

Agree, though it's always a problem assessing intention/motivation. I would say one heads-up (one caution) to the person should be enough for any reasonable person. I would say the "owner" of a thread should police their own thread. If there's a problem and posts need to be edited or even removed since the editing window has past, let me know and I'll do the removal (not the policing - not my thing - not to mention I'd have to be on the thread and in the conversation to know anything amiss is happening, which would be hit-or-miss).

Agree.

Topics that are adjacent can present a snarl - like Fauci and vaccines did. I myself am not averse to side-bar conversations - we're human and conversations take organic turns, after all. It's what makes the chat fun - no need to be rigid imo. But if it's your thread, your call.

I totally agree with you here, sometimes the sidebar and adjacent conversations can be lot of fun. And honestly, there's a lot times that conversations have taken a turn into biology, philosophy, folklore, etc, that aren't specifically UFO or paranormal related, but do provide potential insights or give us something else to consider. Which I kinda think is the best part about this thing. I'm not here because I believe we are ever going to get disclosure or proof of the paranormal.
