It's hyperbole.

Kokinda saying Canada and the US are at war? Well, Mark Carny just said it today when he pulled out of the trade negotiations with the US.

Comment: "Keystone XL pipeline deal is a bust AGAIN, due to Carney, dairy cartel in Quebec, and upcoming by-elections in the east. Alberta will have to go it alone with the Keystone XL pipeline."

Trump’s blanket tariff policies have slowed economic growth, increased everyday prices for consumers, and reduced manufacturing jobs in the United States, while deeply disrupting trade, causing export losses, and forcing expensive retaliation in Canada. Meanwhile, knowing which ones and when they're coming is basically the same as insider trading.

Trump said that the initial stages of this economic reset would be a bumpy ride. He warned the US populace. Even so, while we could debate, the last sentence is referencing a situation that a trade agreement would fix. But Carny seems not to want a trade agreement. He dragged his feet for 8 months while the US negotiated with Mexico for a year and a half and is now close to a deal. Instead Carny drags his feet, starts up negotiations and then today smashes it all to smithereens, saying Canada is 'at war' with the US. One of the sticking points? The US does not want Canadian censorship to apply to US entities.

You didn't address the issues brought - that Canada is smuggling product into the US in cahoots with China, and 'slave' labor. Several of your responses do not address the issues being brought but rather indulge in Whataboutism. No dialog is possible.

Look up the definition of gaslighting - where is Kokinda engaging in gaslighting per the definition?

The world is closer to WW3 than ever before, defense spending has skyrocketed, exceeding the trillion dollar mark for the first time in history, his economic policies are causing global turmoil,

Who exactly would be the players in a kinetic WW3? Not the United States. Europe wants a war with Russia and is doing the best it can to trigger it via Ukraine - but the US is no longer playing ball. Europe cannot rely on the US military - so who is going to fight this WW3 you are positing?

It's a global economic reset. Painful at the beginning. The US is no longer sending funding all around the world. Countries have to recalibrate. BTW this reset was inevitable because the US was being bled dry. The crash was coming, Trump just took hold of the inevitable to reshape the trajectory to everyone's benefit, not just the saving of America. Trump is a patriot. He's playing the long game.

Kokinda is smart as a whip - she's been in the game, even advising an administration or two, for over 50 years. She knows where-of she speaks.

Carney Declares Canada “At War” With Trump... Now 90,000 Jobs Are At Risk

"Mark Carney says Canada is now effectively at war with the United States.

"After more than a year of negotiations, Carney has walked away from trade talks with the Trump administration and announced that Canada will retaliate with 50% counter-tariffs. Carney says Canada had no choice because the United States simply wouldn't agree to a fair deal. But is there more going on behind the scenes?

"In this emergency episode, I sit down with Georganne Burke, a Canadian-American political strategist and Senior Vice President at The Pathway Group. Burke has spent years working in Canadian conservative politics and has also worked on the Trump campaign in the United States.

"Weeks ago, she warned that Canada was in trouble regarding its relationship with the United States. Now, with negotiations collapsing and a full-scale trade war looming, her warning is even more alarming."

Trump Admin Sends Devastating Warning To Canada After Carney Declares "War"
Published August 23, 2026: [Video Run Time 21:46] Elie Cantin-Nantel Channel

"Today, we're going to look at the devastating new warning a senior Trump administration official just sent to Canada.

"But more importantly, we're going to look at what actually happened behind closed doors during those trade negotiations — because according to the Americans, Canadians may not have been told the full story about why the deal collapsed. Both sides are publicly blaming the other for last-minute changes.

"Then there's the bigger question: why is Mark Carney willing to take this fight so far?

"And finally, China. Because when you hear what Carney himself has said about Canada's future with China, you may start to wonder what he's really trying to accomplish here."

Kokinda saying Canada and the US are at war? Well, Mark Carny just said it today when he pulled out of the trade negotiations with the US.
Carney's a clown — a sad not funny clown.
Comment: "Keystone XL pipeline deal is a bust AGAIN, due to Carney, dairy cartel in Quebec, and upcoming by-elections in the east. Alberta will have to go it alone with the Keystone XL pipeline."
More "big energy" remember what I was saying about that?
Trump said that the initial stages of this economic reset would be a bumpy ride. He warned the US populace. Even so, while we could debate, the last sentence is referencing a situation that a trade agreement would fix.
And Trump made it bumpy because ups and downs mean buy low - sell high for him and those tuned into the market manipulation.
It's a Trump-Carney circus.
You didn't address the issues brought - that Canada is smuggling product into the US in cahoots with China, and 'slave' labor. Several of your responses do not address the issues being brought but rather indulge in Whataboutism. No dialog is possible.
It's an issue on both sides of the border with different products and way bigger fish than us. Try to get out of this adversarial binary political paradigm. Americans and Canadians are essentially one big mix of North American cultures. We can get along just fine if we decide to — but we have to bring it back to a grass roots level where "we the people" appreciate that possibility — and reject all the division sown by the politicians.
Look up the definition of gaslighting - where is Kokinda engaging in gaslighting per the definition?
Her whole rant fits the definition because of the way it attempts to spin US/Canada relations in a divisive manner that suits her political viewpoint. But it's not just her — it's all the other pundits and sympathizers sewing division along with her.

AI Overview

U.S. political figures and media influencers have increasingly deployed gaslighting rhetoric—framing provocative economic and sovereignty threats as "jokes" or defensive necessities while blaming Canada for resisting—deepening cross-border friction. This posture relies on distortion and DARVO (Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender) dynamics to destabilize shared bilateral norms.

Major Themes of Divisive and Gaslighting Rhetoric
  • The "51st State" and Annexation Framing: U.S. political figures and commentators frequently float rhetoric about absorbing Canada or using economic force to render its sovereignty obsolete, subsequently dismissing public Canadian outrage by claiming it was "just a joke" or negotiating style rather than an explicit threat to national existence.
  • Delegitimizing Canadian Media Independence: Right-wing U.S. media and state department messaging have pushed narratives claiming that Canada's press corps lacks basic freedom and merely self-censors to conform to Ottawa’s funding models. This reverses reality by painting a robust, regulated democratic press as state-controlled propaganda.
  • Weaponizing Border and Environmental Scapegoating: U.S. political commentary has frequently blamed Canada for U.S. domestic issues—such as framing Canadian wildfire smoke or border enforcement lapses as intentional economic or security burdens—justifying punitive tariff actions while gaslighting the public that the targeted neighbor "made us do it".
  • Amplifying Regional Separatism: U.S.-centric digital and alternative media ecosystems have actively platformed and inflated narratives regarding Alberta separatism, treating fringe domestic dissolution ideas as mainstream geopolitical inevitabilities to encourage internal Canadian fracturing.
Who exactly would be the players in a kinetic WW3? Not the United States. Europe wants a war with Russia and is doing the best it can to trigger it via Ukraine - but the US is no longer playing ball. Europe cannot rely on the US military - so who is going to fight this WW3 you are positing?
The major military powers and those aligned with them.
It's a global economic reset. Painful at the beginning.
That's the propaganda. Or did you forget the "Great Reset", "Build Back Better" BS?
Trump's war with the "Invisible Enemy" was the same agenda, but with his "Make America Great Again" packaging.
The United States recently pledged $206 million in late July/August 2026 for an international peacekeeping and stabilization force in Gaza, alongside a broader $10 billion pledge announced earlier in February 2026 for the Board of Peace initiative aimed at regional reconstruction.
Kokinda is smart as a whip - she's been in the game, even advising an administration or two, for over 50 years. She knows where-of she speaks.
Well if you like her, keep watching her. Just don't count on me to keep debunking her — politics isn't really my thing. I had to deal with the politics of COVID because that was going way too far. Most of this is just the same-old same-old elites playing with economies to make themselves and their buddies rich.
Your article mentions "centralized, expert-led planning" - you know what that is? Marxism. Communism. Is that your penchant? Are you a Globalist?
Am I a globalist? Sort of. I'm a John Lennon idealist.

Unfortunately, the current globalist elite have twisted that vision into something inverted, dark, and oppressive.

Trump’s Tariffs Have Cost the Equivalent of 2,800 Factories Nationwide

Washington, D.C. — A new analysis from the Center for American Progress finds that the Trump administration’s sweeping tariff agenda has failed to revive American manufacturing and has instead coincided with widespread blue-collar job losses, falling factory investment, and rising costs for American households. Since President Donald Trump announced his “Liberation Day” tariffs in April 2025, the United States has lost 89,000 manufacturing jobs.

Just political banter.
I've already made my position clear — I'd like to see a less divisive approach by politicians.
Didn't someone once piont out "To govern more securely some princes have kept the towns subject to them divided by factions."?
In other words — division keeps the elites in power — so should we really expect that they'd foster anything else?

Let's spread a little love and humor instead . . .

The Reality of U.S.–Canada Agricultural Trade

  • Duty-Free Access: The vast majority of U.S. farm goods enter Canada completely tariff-free.
  • Supply Management Quotas: Canada protects its domestic dairy, poultry, and egg sectors using a regulated system that sets allowable production and zero-tariff import volumes.
  • The High Tariffs Myth: Penalty tariffs ranging from 200% to nearly 300% (such as 298.5% on butter) only trigger after these specific volume caps are exceeded.
  • Unfilled Quotas: U.S. exporters do not fully use their allotted duty-free import limits, meaning these high over-quota penalties rarely or never apply to actual shipments.

So the 'war' is on. If not a kinetic war a trade war. I'm going to wait-and-see before making a judgement. Jobs being lost? Maybe - but in what way - certainly a google search gives you what you posted, but there is also a broader trend of companies bringing production back to the U.S.

In my brief time really watching Trump I've learned not to second guess him. He's playing the long game. I am not an economist and cannot analyze the job market. But for google searches - 'Since April 2025, the U.S. economy has added roughly 584,000 jobs for the full year,' - I cannot evaluate job losses to job growth. For example, during the World Cup, employment surged and then after the World Cup employment declined. What kinds of jobs are being lost and what kinds of jobs are surging? I think we can get whatever we want doing a google search.

The re-shoring of manufacturing is in fact taking place - I see it in my own state and in adjoining states. Re-training the populace takes time but the training is taking place - in one state young men are training to make submarines and then going into 6-figure jobs. Right where I live there are new factories going up related to investments in advanced manufacturing and reshoring operations - plus investment is pouring into the port. Over a hundred new industrial construction projects connected to re-shoring are taking place just in my area alone.

There are fluctuations in job numbers because of deportations. For example, there have been fluctuations in construction jobs because of the successful deportation of illegals who were glutting construction jobs normally taken by US citizens. Close to 2 million people have been deported since 2025, either they have self-deported or been forcibly removed. All these factors put the system under stress as the system recalibrates. We've spent decades calibrating around illegal immigrants who work for low wages (even illegally low wages) and edge out the local population accustomed to the higher legal wages. It's a massive readjustment - some 'pain' as we were warned.

Here's a google search result worth ruminating on: "Since 2025, there have been over 5 million new business applications filed annually in the U.S., indicating a strong trend in entrepreneurship." I hear anecdotally from Canadian interviews that Canadian businesses are leaving Canada for the US in record numbers - but google tells me it cannot get those kind of detailed numbers, if we trust google anyway. Clearly I made an error in my choice of college major - should have majored in economics. :) Take a gander at the US/Canada trade surplus and deficits - and which country has the better deal: "In 2026 Canada and the United States exchanged 791.7 billion dollars in goods. Services trade added 216.4 billion dollars. These volumes equal 68.4 percent of Canadian gross domestic product while a 151.2 billion dollar US deficit."

I think the bottom line is we are two countries closely tied together, with Canada benefitting the most from America being willing to take the brunt in many instances (why Trump made the comment that we have been treating Canada like it was a state). Trump is changing the unevenness in the relationship, asking for a fairer balance. Canada is not a US state (tho it benefits as tho it were) - Trump is asking for Canada to stand on its own two feet as a sovereign nation. To do that it has to untangle from the Globalist agenda, from China, from the cartels and the triads - which Carny seems no where near close to doing. Did you know that Carny's whole family lives in the US? His wife lives in New York State.

A notation: Biden drastically reduced the cattle/beef stock herds in the US. Since Trump came into office they have been rebuilding the herds but for obvious reasons that rebuild is taking a few years. Once it's done we will be back to being in good shape and not dependent on imported meat.

This video is about 40 minutes long so it's a time investment, but it goes into exactly what Carny is attempting to do and being a Globalist his goal is internal conflict within Canada. He is also bleeding Canada dry which is what the Globalists do. Very interesting interview about Carny.

So the 'war' is on . . .

It's all just more divisiveness and deflection. And I don't think Trump is playing a "long game". I think he and Carney are colluding while they can — using their positions as leaders to manipulate markets for themselves and their inner circle buddies — regardless of the cost to either country, and that the "trade war" is just a smokescreen. But hey — I'm just a crazy "conspiracy theorist", so don't pay any attention to me.

What you can do is pay attention to what the markets do every time Trump opens and closes the Strait of Hormuz or announces another tariff. Maybe then you can get in on the same action as them. The markets did the same thing all through COVID when the artificial "waves" they created ( on purpose ) in order to "flatten the curve" would rise and fall. Buy low — sell high. It's plain as day.

Anyway, I'd just like to see less division. I'm not into any sort of "war" with our American friends and neighbors :)
