This Week's Episode: Gene and Randall present disclosure lobbyist Stephen Bassett, who will provide an a detailed update on the 2020 U.S. election for President, and how it might impact the government's approach towards investigating and possibly revealing the truth about UFOs. He focuses on what, if anything, U.S. Presidents may have been told about UFOs over the decades and how disclosure might play out over 2021. Bassett is the executive director of Paradigm Research Group (PRG) founded in 1996. He has given over 1,000 radio and television interviews, and PRG’s advocacy work has been extensively covered by national and international media. In 2013 PRG produced a “Citizen Hearing on Disclosure” at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. On November 5, 2014 PRG launched a Congressional Hearing/Political Initiative seeking the first hearings on Capitol Hill since 1968 on the presence of UFOs.

After The Paracast -- Available exclusively for Paracast+ subscribers on November 15: UFO disclosure lobbyist Stephen Bassett returns to continue the discussion that started on the November 15, 2020 episode of The Paracast. He speculates as to when the Pentagon UFO Task Force is expected to release its first report to Congress on whether the phenomenon presents a threat to national security, the possibilities of congressional hearings on UFOs, along with the history of government investigations into the matter, and whether and what kind of extraterrestrial beings might be contacting some Earthlings. Bassett is the executive director of Paradigm Research Group (PRG) founded in 1996 to end what he regards as a government imposed embargo on the truth behind extraterrestrial related phenomena.

The 2020 Presidential Election and UFO Disclosure

By Gene Steinberg

First of all, I am not going to get immersed in any debates about the election results. Unless there’s evidence to the contrary — and nothing has shown up so far — I will presume the results are as they appear to be, that former Vice President Joseph R. Biden will become President of the United States on January 20, 2021.

You are free to argue other points of view in our forums, but you are going to have to provide solid facts and not rumors and unfounded speculation.

I am more interested in how that election might influence the prospect of UFO disclosure. And that’s where the jury is out.

So Trump has made a general comment or two on the subject over the years, but nothing that would commit him to any particular approach. I wasn’t able to find any meaningful comments from Biden on UFOs.

Now during the 2016 election, Secretary Hillary Clinton was in favor of investigating UAPs, or so she said during a few interviews. Notably, the Clintons have worked with John Podesta, who served as White House Chief of Staff during the final three years of President Bill Clinton’s administration. And that is significant, since Podesta has been vocal in his support for the government revealing what it knows about the topic.

While Biden will clearly have former Obama and Clinton staffers working on his team, there’s nothing yet to indicate whether Podesta will be involved.

More to the point, America is a highly polarized country. Each candidate received over 70 million votes, which means that nearly half the population will disbelieve, and possibly not support, the man they didn’t support.

In this climate, the new administration will have to deal with an out-of-control pandemic, serious economic woes and other troubles with a sharply divided Congress.

So where will UFOs stand in all this?

So there is that Pentagon UAP Task Force, which claims to be seeking evidence on whether the phenomenon represents a threat to national security. But its official comments imply more about seeking evidence of possible incursions into domestic airspace by craft flown by other countries, and not by extraterrestrial visitors.

That, of course, may just be an excuse to avoid admitting any interest in strange flying objects with an off-world origin.

Regardless, the Task Force was given 180 days to report to the Senate Intelligence Committee. But that doesn’t mean it would face any unsavory consequences should it request a delay perhaps due to an apparently unstable staffing setup in the Pentagon. They could, I suppose, ask for more time, or just not respond unless or until Congress demands answers.

Even then, it may take weeks or months to get a response.

More to the point, even if there is a response, it could consist of little more than a few paragraphs stating that they are still investigating those sightings and will let the Senate know when or if they have something consequential to report.

Or they could echo the conclusions presented by the Air Force Project Blue Book in the 1960s, that they have found no evidence that the UAP phenomenon presents an existing or potential threat to national security.

In other words, there’s no reason to feel any more optimistic that anything more concrete will come from this study.

Sure, UFOs have been treated far more seriously in the mainstream press since that 2017 revelation of a previously secret Pentagon study on the matter. The release of the ‘Tik Tac’ videos was intriguing, of course, but it’s not as if much else of interest has emerged.

Unless there’s something really new to report, how many more UFO stories will The New York Times or Washington Post publish anyway?

Sure, the release of James Fox’ UFO documentary, “The Phenomenon,” after an eight-year gestation period, might help keep interest high. But it’s also a victim of the pandemic.

So the hoped-for theatrical release never happened because most multiplexes are closed, and their future is in doubt. Indeed, it is very possible that such blockbuster films as “Wonder Woman 1984” and the 25th James Bond flick, “No Time to Die,” will end up being streamed online.

A small budget documentary film, however good it might be, would quickly get lost in the shuffle. As it is, “The Phenomenon” is available for purchase or rental from the major movie services, such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+ and Vimeo. If you buy via the latter two, you can also access three hours of extras, obviously a far better deal.

And, we are giving away free coupon codes to get the movie via Vimeo for those of you who order five-year or lifetime subscriptions to The Paracast+. At least while they last. For easy signups, please visit: Choose Your Membership Upgrade

Now Fox referred to the potential of the film as a “marathon” and not a “sprint,” meaning that it will take awhile to see how influential it might be. Certainly if it makes it onto Netflix or one of the other streaming services as a regular presence, it ought to earn ongoing views to keep interest up.

As it stands, though, there’s little reason to assume any of the present interest in UFOs will bring about some sort of disclosure. The complicated situation in the White House is hardly apt to result in any new attention on the subject unless there are new revelations that demand national attention.

And that’s hardly likely to happen. In the scheme of things, most UFO-related news would barely survive a single news cycle.

Now if UFOs are indeed extraterrestrial, they hold the cards about disclosure. At any time, they can directly reveal their presence to the people of Earth — beyond those alleged contacts with largely unknown people.

If mother ships appear over the major cities of Earth, the story of disclosure will be written, and there would be nothing any Earth authority could do about it. But how many of you believe any such thing is about to happen now, or in the foreseeable future?

If past is prologue, why should things change? And even if the Pentagon UFO Task Force’s work brings about hearings in Congress, other than the usual silly political posturing, would that really change anything?

I wish it were otherwise, but color me jaded.
