This Week's Episode: Gene and cohost Tim Swartz invite you to return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear, the dawn of the modern UFO age, with Graeme Rendall discussing his recent book, "Dawn Of The Flying Saucers: Aerial UFO Encounters & Official Investigations 1946-1949." In addition to being a full time author and a commentator on UFOs, he is also a contributor to the "The Debrief," an American news website dealing with cutting edge science, tech and defense news, and a frequent guest on various podcasts dealing with UAP. He is also a member of UAP Media UK, a group advocating government transparency on the UAP issue. Between 1990 and 1992, he was the Editor of an amateur aviation magazine. Rendall has also written a critically-acclaimed work looking at the "Foo-Fighters" witnessed during World War Two and the numerous wartime cases that occurred before the term was coined in November 1944, as well as other books dealing with aerial UFO encounters between 1946 and 1954.

After The Paracast — Available exclusively for Paracast+ subscribers on January 29: Author/researcher Graeme Rendall returns to talk further with Gene and cohost Tim Swartz about vintage UFO sightings, as described in his book, “Dawn Of The Flying Saucers: Aerial UFO Encounters & Official Investigations 1946-1949.” You’ll also hear his views about possible ancient sightings, and where he remains skeptical of the alleged evidence about so-called ancient astronauts. And what about those myths about possible Nazi flying saucers? Do they have any connection with possibly genuine inventions from before World War II? He’ll also reveal what he really thinks about the reality of the UFO phenomenon. In addition to exploring the unknown he has been an aviation and World War Two history enthusiast from an early age, when he was given Airfix model aircraft kits “to keep him quiet.” Married to Jo, he lives in Weardale, a picturesque part of Country Durham, UK.

Locking Away the Secret of the Saucers
By Gene Steinberg

There’s a silly joke I heard the other day, that the White House is giving out classified documents “as a party favor.”

Right, it’s barely worth a laugh, or even a chuckle. It’s all about the recent news reports that a President, a former President and a former Vice President all had materials marked classified among their personal belongings. But I’m not going to get into the political ramifications or byplay. It’s just not the point.

The real point is the entire process of putting a classified label on a document, and how it might relate to a certain subject that we cover here at The Paracast.

Now as long-time observers of the UFO mess comb over the ongoing reports of the Pentagon UAP study’s musical chairs, you have to wonder what the outcome might be. Will it end up with an actual revelation as to what is behind the phenomenon, or will there just be delay after delay, with preliminary reports that basically explain nothing?

I realize many of you expect that any revelation must confirm that we are being visited by extraterrestrials. While that might be true, whether there’s ironclad proof available is debatable.

There are, of course, the endless discussions about the 1947 Roswell crash. I have reduced the topic to the “R-word” label, but I realize it’s something we just can’t avoid. It has become such a significant part of pop culture that it will go on, decades past the death of all the witnesses perhaps, and until there really is a solution.

But what sort of solution, and is that knowledge already at hand?

If the Roswell event involved the recovery of a real spaceship, then the evidence must still be there, unless the craft were destroyed or somehow self-destructed.

And that’s a topic that isn’t often discussed.

The assumption of those who believe in the Roswell event, and even the 1996 UFO crash and creature recovery event in Varginha, Brazil due to the alleged involvement of the U.S., is that the evidence is intact.

Sure, perhaps scientists and engineers have indeed engaged in ongoing efforts to understand the advanced technology in our midst. Among the theories I’ve heard is that the issue has been revisited every few years because we do not yet have the ability to understand what we have in our midst.

That’s contrary to the claims about somehow reverse engineering alien technology, simply because there isn’t any evidence for it.

So there’s an assumption about the outcome of crash recovery events. We assume that the wreckage was all gathered and taken to one or more facilities for further study, and it doesn’t matter where. But it’s not as if anyone working in such a place has provided evidence that any of it exists, and what they possess.

So what if nothing was recovered, or what was recovered never made it to its destination?

Consider the situation from a human standpoint: We send an advanced aircraft on a surveillance mission to another country, and it crashes. Clearly allowing it to get into the hands of that country’s authorities would present a potential security risk, possibly a big one.

So what do we do?

Well one possible solution is to hit a self-destruct switch, so anything that’s still left wouldn’t present such a risk. Or we scramble a mission to recover the craft and, if its piloted, its crew members.

It seems perfectly logical right?

Now I wouldn’t pretend to understand alien motivations, but if they wanted us to know what they can do, what technology their vessels contain, they’d just land and say hello. That they continue to elude us — and I’ll set aside contact claims, including abductions — clearly demonstrates they don’t want us to recover their ships.

Imagine this scenario: Trucks containing the wreckage of an alien craft are transporting the materials somewhere. Along the way, one or more flying saucers block the transports. Using advanced weaponry, they stun those aboard and recover their property. Before anyone awakens, they are given ET’s version of the Neuralyzer depicted in the “MIB” movies. They are told to forget everything, even what they were transporting.

After all, sophisticated mind control shouldn’t be beyond the capability of beings who have perfected interstellar travel. In addition, the trucks are all sanitized so there’s no remaining evidence of what they carried.

But what happens with the people who were sent on a mission to transport those spaceships to a testing facility? After all, they remember nothing.

Or perhaps the wreckage is simply vaporized somewhere along the recovery process with no consideration of whether any humans in the vicinity survive. Or they target the destructive process in such a way that nobody is hurt.

Whatever really occurs, it becomes a matter of deep security, so the entire matter is recorded and placed under an “Above Top Secret” label, meaning only a few people with a need to know can see it.

Over the decades, the matter lays dormant. After all, there’s no evidence of what really happened. The authorities can accurately state that they do not possess physical evidence of spaceships because it’s true. They don’t. At least not anymore.

That takes us to security. Whether or not we have evidence that ET is among us, it’s a sure thing only a few will know. Perhaps not even a President or CIA Director. That’s where the classification process comes in.

But it isn’t just critical state secrets that secure a classification label. Sometimes it’s a trivial matter, such as a schedule for, say, the President. Even after it’s used, and even if the events are all public, the schedule keeps that label. It is added to hundreds of thousands and even millions of other documents classified for trivial reasons. No wonder some of it might be mistakenly packed and removed by government officials who leave office.

So where does that take us?

I read a report about the current President/Vice President document controversy that one of the problems with the current process is that only a tiny budget has been allocated to declassify. So it’s just not done very often.

Being hugely overwhelmed with classified documents that are needlessly labeled, the important materials are more difficult to locate, and might not be casually seen even by people who would be allowed to see them.

There may indeed be a secret of the saucers, but if nothing is done about it, and only a few are afforded a need to know, that secret might as well not exist. As the decades roll by, fewer and fewer people are paying attention.

Even people who want to know — have the right to know — would remain in the dark. So even if ET landed tomorrow, it would come as a total surprise even if the truth of the flying saucers was known many years ago.

Not likely?

Well, consider the craziness of the current classification system, and the defensive approach American authorities take in managing it. Such an approach also appears to exist in the U.K. and other countries.

One possible solution would be to establish a program for the Pentagon — and for similar agencies in other countries — to review all classified documents with proper security measures in place and determine which ones should be declassified and even discarded.

The price of such a program would be in the billions of dollars, and even with sophisticated scanners and a large number of workers involved, it would take years to complete. Which is why it’s never done. It’s just too easy to allocate funding for a weapons system or advanced aircraft despite the inefficiencies and inevitable cost overruns.

So is it possible that we already have ironclad evidence that confirms what UFOs really are? Maybe it’s all buried so deep in an efficient classification system that it might as well never exist.
