This Week's Episode: Gene and special guest cohost Tim Swartz introduce Keith Linder, who reveals what is regarded as America's most controversial poltergeist case. In 2012 Keith and his girlfriend and moved into a house right outside of Seattle. The phenomena they witnessed while there would change their lives forever. They're now living between two realities now. What he lived through and what he's willing to share. Robb Tilley of the Australian Institute of Parapsychology Research says Keith Linder's case "case is right up there with the most frightening of poltergeist cases: the Enfield Poltergeist, the South Shields Poltergeist, the Bridgeport Connecticut case, and the Matthew Manning case; all well-researched and detailed in various books and documentaries over the years." Keith Linder is author of The Bothell Hell House, Attachments — Poltergeist of Washington State Part Two, and Poltergeist — The Night Side of Physics books.

After The Paracast — Available exclusively for Paracast+ subscribers on January 2: Paranormal experiencer Keith Linder visits Gene and special guest cohost Tim Swartz to discuss more incredible encounters with possible poltergeists since moving into a possibly haunted home in Bothell, Washington. Keith will talk about such episodes as his personal possessions disappearing fro a locked safe and nasty consequences that occurred after he agreed to beta test a new Microsoft Xbox and Kinect gaming system at his home. Keith is an IT professional — holding over four certifications in the information technology field. His hobbies are fishing, sports, football, basketball, the outdoors, movies, sci/fi, a proud geek of just about anything dealing with technology. Caution: Are UFOs a Contagious Disease Too?
By Gene Steinberg

Over the years, I’ve made a big point of the fact that UFO sightings do not always exist alone. People may see one and get on with their lives, while others find themselves confronted with all sorts of amazing phenomena, sometimes extremely frightening, quite possibly painful.

In some cases, there’s a family history of encounters with the paranormal, but in others there isn’t. It all begins with that one sighting and then everything goes to hell.

As regular readers know, I’ve written about this before. People I know have had their lives turned upside down as a result.

When he appeared on the show back on November 28, 2021, Colm Keller, a coauthor of “Skinwalkers at the Pentagon: An Insiders’ Account of the Secret Government UFO Program,” he spoke of a “hitchhiker effect.” It means that, when some people see a UFO, it’s not just about watching something. It means that “something” starts tagging along as you go on about your business.

On the service, it almost seems as if you’re catching a disease. And in some cases, that appears to be true.

So there are cases where witnesses experience sometimes painful health effects. One key example is the 1980 Cash-Landrum encounter, where Betty Cash, Vickie Landrum and the latter’s grandson, Colby Landrum, then aged 7, had a close-up sighting of a large diamond-shaped object hovering at treetop level in the state of Texas.

It’s notable that the object reportedly emitted flame and heat, according to reports on the sighting. The latter is notable, and it may explain the sort of nasty health consequences. Indeed, the heat impacted the car’s body to the point where it became painful to touch. Whatever the cause, over the years, all suffered health effects, with Cash evidently experiencing the worst.

They all evidently had nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, feelings of weakness and burning sensations in their eyes. It’s as if they had sustained massive sunburn, or were they irradiated by the heat emitting flying triangle?

Over the years, Cash developed breast cancer. The elder Landrum had cataracts. There has been speculation about what sort of radiation would cause such side-effects.

Except for the initial onset of symptoms, however, it’s hard to correlate what happened with the later outcomes, obviously. During their lifetimes, one in eight women, based on U.S. estimates, will suffer from breast cancer.

Cataracts are even more common, with one in six Americans over the age of 40 developing them. The average age for cataract surgery is 73. My two cataract surgeries occurred just before I reached 76, and I have certainly not had any close encounters with a UFO. It’s just how things are.

Indeed it appears to be so normal that the eye surgery center that I used almost runs the procedures as a supermarket. After prep time with eye drops and light sedation, the actual surgery to replace the lens with an implant typically takes about three minutes, roughly speaking. My doctor did the narration, and, when done, he quickly moved on to the next patient.

That medical needs increase as one gets older are quite normal among humans — and other inhabitants of our world — and are just a part of life. That said, being irradiated by a UFO and suffering health effects raises questions as to just what is going on here.

Unlike most UFOs, the craft seen in the Cash-Landrum case appeared less advanced. It expelled flame and heat, unlike flying things that appear to possess no visible propulsion system.

Indeed, it is not untoward to wonder if this particular UFO might have been some sort of test aircraft that flew about without the expectation that nearby eyewitnesses would suffer physical effects. Or maybe the authorities didn’t care.

In the normal course of UFO events, the effects people suffer are not always immediately physical. They exhibit themselves in the ongoing paranormal events that begin to occur, such as possible poltergeists moving objects around, causing other acts of mischief and annoyance.

When investigators look into reports of possible ghosts and strange creatures, particularly the latter, it’s not unusual to find UFOs as part of the picture.

So which is the chicken or the egg? What begat what? Was it the UFO, causing someone to suffer from some sort of disease of psychic sensitivity, thus making them more likely to witness things they wouldn’t have normally seen? Possibly, but how does that cause physical effects too?

Unless they are infected with the ability to generate such effects in their surroundings.

Unfortunately, many UFO researchers aren’t in tune with potential human effects, whether illness or the onset of other paranormal experiences. When you see a UFO, you might as well be watching an airplane going about its business. There is no difference, and researchers who consider a wider picture are engaged in pursuits that just aren’t scientific.

But things may be due for a change.

So the new UAP office that’s included in the 2022 U.S. National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), according to a press release from Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), one of the sponsors of the amendment, “will be required to provide unclassified annual reports to Congress and classified semiannual briefings on intelligence analysis, reported incidents, health-related effects [my emphasis], the role of foreign governments, and nuclear security.”

Those three words have gone by without much coverage. But it also appears to be a key component of the new investigation. It might even be due to the influence of Dr. Kelleher and others who were involved in that infamous $22 million Pentagon UAP study involving him and others associated with billionaire hotel owner Robert Bigelow.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as if the mainstream media will be alerted as to what it all means. That there is a UFO/UAP study is the story in and of itself. Whether they will consider whether ET is among us will surely gets coverage, although it’s being done in a way that deemphasizes the possibility. Instead, it’s about the potential impact to national security.

It also gives them an out should someone ask Pentagon officials about what “health-related effects” truly mean.

But if there is reason to pursue that avenue of research in connection with any sighting that becomes public, the authorities can always maintain that, well, of course, they have considered all possibilities.

Of course, old-fashioned UFO groups, such as MUFON, aren’t hard-wired to expand the scope of their investigations into such side issues, which is unfortunate.
