Sunday, January 15, 2012: The Paracast covers a world beyond science, where UFOs, poltergeists and strange phenomena of all kinds have been reported by millions across the planet.

Set Up: The Paracast is a paranormal radio show that takes you on a journey to a world beyond science, where UFOs, poltergeists and strange phenomena of all kinds have been reported by millions. The Paracast seeks to shed light on the mysteries and complexities of our Universe and the secrets that surround us in our everyday lives.

Join long-time paranormal researcher Gene Steinberg, co-host Christopher O'Brien, and a panel of special guest experts and experiencers, as they explore the realms of the known and unknown. Listen each week to the great stories of the history of the paranormal field in the 20th and 21st centuries.

This Week's Episode: Gene and Chris present a long-time student of UFO studies, Ray Stanford, who will describe his interpretation of the evolution of "discoids" used in the Missippian game of "Chunkey," from the very first seeming alien craft effigies laboriously produced in magnetic hematite-magnetite, to discoids that became increasingly practical for use in "Chunkey" that was seemingly patterned after observations of anomalous disc-like, domed objects docking with long, narrow things that in this space age we might call "motherships."

Are We Being Prepared for Disclosure?
By Gene Steinberg

Beginning in the 1950s, UFO researchers demanded that our governments reveal what they really know about those strange objects in our skies. Where answers were forthcoming, the statements insisted UFOs are not spaceships, even if that question isn’t being asked, and that they do not represent a threat to a nation’s security. Existing sightings can be attributed to misidentification of existing objects or phenomena.

Even when UFO cases are revealed by certain governments, most often the cases aren’t terribly significant, or details are redacted in the interests of national security. But assuming a conventional explanation, such security interests may involve information about otherwise secret aircraft or perhaps military maneuvers the authorities wouldn’t want enemy powers to know anything about.

When the U.S. government killed Project Bluebook, the agency charged with investigating UFO sightings, such events didn’t stop. Sightings over the years continued with ebbs and flows. Indeed, UFO cases in 2011 reached an extremely high level, at least according to the Mutual UFO Network, who claims to have received over 6,000 such reports. A recent press release indicates that the number of sightings continued to increase through the first week of 2012.

At the same time, the so-called “Disclosure” movement has been controversial. While there’s nothing wrong in claiming the authorities know more about UFOs than they are telling us, some of those Disclosure demands seem excessive, assuming facts without demonstrable evidence. So, there have been demands that we be told the truth about alleged ET interactions with terrestrial governments, or whether spaceships and perhaps aliens are being examined in secret underground military bases.

While a recent Disclosure petition actually received a response from a mid-level bureaucrat working for President Obama, that response was nothing more than the expected denial of UFO reality.

But through the years, certain occurrences have been cited as indications that we are being gradually prepared for the revelation that we are being visited by advanced beings from another planet. In the 1977 movie, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” the movie concluded with a scene depicting a group of specially selected Earthlings being taken on an extended voyage by the grays. Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster film used actual UFO cases for background material in building this compelling sci-fi tale. As most of you know, the late Dr. J. Allen Hynek served as a consultant for the film, and he even had a brief cameo appearance near the movie’s conclusion.

So is it possible “Close Encounters” was released with a specific motive, to get us ready for Disclosure? What about Spielberg’s other famous sci-fi tale, “ET,” where the alien was warm and fuzzy. On the other hand, yet another Spielberg film, “War of the Worlds,” based on the classic H.G. Wells classic novel about an alien invasion, would surely have created the wrong message.

Or maybe it was meant to cover up the real motives of the earlier films, but I wouldn’t take that possibility seriously.

More recently, astronomers have begun to present evidence about the existence of huge numbers of planets around various star systems in our galaxy. Some of those planets may be located in the critical “m-class” zone, where they are not too far or too close to their suns, and are possible candidates for the development of life. As this research continues, it becomes more and more certain that habitable planets may be ubiquitous in our universe. That being the case, life as we know it surely exists out there, and some of that life may have indeed reached a state of civilization where travel across the stars is commonplace.

Now that assumption is based on life forms being somewhat similar to what exists on Earth. It’s quite possible other chemical compounds may combine to produce alien species that we might not even recognize as living. I think of the sci-fi movie, “Contact” based on the Carl Sagan novel, in which the protagonist, portrayed by Jodie Foster, meets an alien who appears to her in the form of her late father. This is done because she could not accept the visitor’s true form.

So it may well be that, if ET has contacted people on our own world, we are not seeing them as they really are. But even that is a stretch.

As the possibility of alien life becomes more and more acceptable, does that make it possible for the authorities to reveal that actual contact has already occurred? Is that part of the plan? Or maybe it’s just the natural development of science, as we discover new things, solve new mysteries, and, in the end, come to realize that we are not alone in the universe.

In the end, though, I’m not prepared to accept the possibility that this gradual acceptance of the existence of alien life is part of a long-term plan that will eventually result in Disclosure.
