Exopolitics and Government UFO Conspiracies Explored on The Paracast

Special Announcement: The Paracast is heard Sundays from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM (Central Time) on the GCN radio network.

Please Consider a Holiday Donation to The Paracast: Although ads help cover a small part of our expenses, the income they produce is never enough. Also, we do not receive any revenue from the ads placed on the show by our network or local stations. So we hope you're able to help fill the gap if you can to help us cover increasing server costs and other expenses -- or perhaps provide a little extra cash for lunch. No contribution is too small (or too large :). We have a Donate link on our home page, below the logo and audio player. There's also a Donate link on our forums, right below our logo. Or just send your PayPal donation direct to sales (at) theparacast (dot) com.

Attention U.S. Listeners: Help Us Bring The Paracast to Your City! Last summer, The Paracast joined the GCN radio network. This represented a huge step in bringing our show to a larger, mainstream audience. But we need your help to add additional affiliates to our growing network. Please ask one of your local talk stations if they are interested in carrying The Paracast. Feel free to contact us directly with the names of programming people we might be able to contact on your behalf. We can't do this alone, and if you succeed in convincing your local station to carry the show, we'll reward you with one of our special T-shirts, and other goodies. With your help, The Paracast can grow into one of the most popular paranormal shows on the planet!

You Can Now Order The Official Paracast T-Shirt: You asked, and we answered. We are now taking orders for The Official Paracast T-Shirt and a collection of other specially customized merchandise. More Excuses for Not Having Evidence?
By Gene Steinberg

Opinions are a dime a dozen, but actually providing evidence to prove your case, particularly in our corner of the universe, is not so easy. Certainly, there are loads of eyewitness reports of strange objects, in the sky or on the ground. There are also reports of strange creatures in and around such craft, and some people claim to have actually met those creatures.

Now you can always denigrate eyewitness testimony is unreliable, yet at the same time that testimony is often sufficient to convict someone of a serious crime. Sure, such testimony is often buttressed by other witnesses, but the case fares better in the courtroom with physical evidence, such as the real smoking gun, and scientific analysis to confirm the guilty party is being tried. In the end, contrary DNA evidence has even been employed to prove that what a witness said they saw was wrong. You can’t argue with DNA.

When it comes to paranormal encounters, yes there are photographs of those possible UFOs. Sometimes there is trace evidence in the vicinity of a reported landing. But I won’t get into the murky crop circle issue; that’s something that’s certainly worth further coverage, but not here and not now.

As to photos, it’s mostly digital these days. It doesn’t take a professional graphic artist or special effects expert to create something that appears credible. This is particularly true if a UFO isn’t very close, and the fine details aren’t visible. What is that thing in the sky? It still depends on the viability of the witness.

But sometimes attempting to assemble key evidence can result in unusual complications. You’ve heard those reports where people took what they claim are compelling UFO photos with film, supposedly sent them on to the developing lab, and they simply disappeared. The lab cannot locate the roll or rolls. Do photo labs only lose those things when UFOs are involved?

Now I ran into one incident when I was young, in which I feared I had lost critical footage when I took photos of a famous politician at a political rally. I foolishly sent a note to the developing facility asking for special attention. I got special attention all right, but had to wait for several weeks to see the results of my efforts. The period of anticipation wasn’t pleasant.

Over the years, there have also been reports of individuals claiming to represent the government or military, who visit UFO witnesses and demand the evidence they possess in the interests of national security. Some people comply, only to learn later on that these visitors were bogus. Or at least nobody claims to know who they were.

But the seizure of possible evidence can also be used as an excuse. The witness can’t supply the evidence they claim to have because someone took it from them. Proof of UFO reality is lost in a morass of contradictory statements and possible government disinformation.

You want to prove that UFOs exist? Well, the governments of the world won’t let you provide that proof. Or they will overwhelm you with false information, so everything is tainted. Perhaps they will lead you down false trails, the better to confuse and befuddle you, so you end up looking foolish.

Why even bother?

The problem with this attitude is, of course, that you never have to prove any claim about a paranormal event. You just say the material was confiscated by the authorities, or that the lab to whom you sent physical evidence somehow lost it. You wonder how such incompetents manage to stay in business.

This doesn’t mean there is no government disinformation in the UFO field. But it is also be true that individuals who have a perverse sense of humor may be trying to have a little fun at someone’s expense. Don’t forget how veteran UFO researcher Jim Moseley was involved in a few notable pranks in the field over the years. He says that he did it just for fun, to keep the subject alive. He wasn’t, as some suggested, acting under government authority. And, yes, I know that Jim’s father, the late George Van Horn Moseley, was a famous and sometimes controversial military officer. Jim didn’t get along with his dad, actually.

In the end, some people in the UFO field have cited UFO secrecy and heavy government intervention as reasons for their failure to produce evidence of sometimes outlandish claims. If they get the evidence, it will be taken. If they talk out of turn, and provide critical documents, they may find themselves facing the barrel of a gun. Maybe, but it still comes across as an excuse, to me at any rate.
