Although ads help cover a small part of our expenses, the income they produce is never enough. Also, we do not receive any revenue from the ads placed on the show by our network. So we hope you'll be willing to help fill the gap if you can to help us cover increasing server costs and other expenses -- or perhaps provide a little extra cash for lunch. No contribution is too small (or too large :). We have a Donate link on our home page, below the logo and audio player. There's also a Donate link on our forums, right below our logo. Or just send your PayPal donation direct to sales (at) theparacast (dot) com.

Attention U.S. Listeners: Help Us Bring The Paracast to Your City!
Last summer, The Paracast joined the GCN radio network. This represented a huge step in bringing our show to a larger, mainstream audience. But we need your help to add additional affiliates to our growing network. Please ask one of your local talk stations if they are interested in carrying The Paracast. Feel free to contact us directly with the names of programming people we might be able to contact on your behalf. We can't do this alone, and if you succeed in convincing your local station to carry the show, we'll reward you with one of our special T-shirts, and other goodies. With your help, The Paracast can grow into one of the most popular paranormal shows on the planet!

You Can Now Order The Official Paracast T-Shirt:

Being Politically Correct

By Gene Steinberg

For a moment put yourself in the shoes of an executive assistant for a member of the U.S. Congress or the Senate. You receive a letter from a constituent demanding that the government disclose the truth, that we are being visited by aliens from Zeta Reticuli. How would you react?

It’s fair to say that legislators are being inundated with letters demanding action on such critical matters as fixing the economy, reducing unemployment. Searching for evidence of alien visitors, or the truth about a UFO Silence Group clearly lies at the bottom of their list of priorities. Such letters wouldn’t even make it to a “gray basket.” More than likely, the letters would be put in the crackpot folder, even if a polite response was sent.

This isn’t to say that U.S. politicians aren’t interested in UFOs, or in the possibility that they might be piloted by visitors from out there. But an accusatory message in this current political climate isn’t going to go anywhere. That’s just the way things are, and the more people demand
disclosure, the worst it’ll get.

On the other hand, UFOs cry out for serious investigation. Sure, there are loads of private researchers, many of whom are dedicated to the job, and some even have distinguished military, educational, and employment credentials. But there’s a fair amount of evidence that they cannot get, either because the witnesses are reluctant to report their UFO sightings, or they are submitted to governmental agencies that may or may not take them seriously, not to mention actually investigate these sightings.

The U.S. Air Force’s official UFO investigative program, Project Blue Book, ended years ago. But except for a short time, during which the late Captain Edward J. Ruppelt headed the agency, it was largely a public relations office designed to deflect inquiries about UFO cases. Whenever possible, the cases would be debunked regardless of the evidence. The Condon Report, which poo-poohed the whole subject, was the ammunition they needed to get out of the UFO business for good.

Yes, maybe there is a top secret agency that is using a so-called “Black Budget” to fund research. Maybe there have been interactions between U.S. authorities and E.T. But this is nothing that anybody can prove, and just making accusations isn’t going to make our political leaders take it seriously.

On the other hand, a large number of letters, carefully phrased to present the less controversial pieces of the UFO enigma, such as simultaneous radar/visual sightings, reports from experienced civilian and military witnesses, and evidence of advanced technology as the result of the incredible maneuverability displayed by UFOs, might have a chance, however slight, of convincing the right people to look into the subject further.

Yes, I suppose you can call this a politically correct approach, because the more extreme cases, evincing paranormal tendencies, so-called abductions and similar encounters, is not going to be included. You might compare this posture to the one taken by the late Major Donald E. Keyhoe when he clamored for congressional hearings on UFOs decades ago. There were loads of cases he just wouldn’t touch.

It doesn’t mean that evidence isn’t valid, but if the people you need to persuade won’t take the subject seriously, you have to deliver the sort of evidence that might catch their attention and possibly change their minds. Once a serious UFO investigation begins, the cases themselves will reveal the stranger aspects by themselves. We only have to open a few doors, and give them room to enter.

Is this selling out? I hardly think so. If you look over the history of UFO research over the past six decades, you’ll see that remarkably little progress has been made in getting to the bottom of this mystery. If it takes being a little politically correct to make a difference, wouldn’t you consider that an acceptable trade-off.

And special thanks to UFO researcher and investigative journalist Leslie Kean for this idea, which will be expressed in more detail on this week’s episode of The Paracast.

Politically correct or not, the people with the info just aren't going to tell anyone until they are good and ready ... and that isn't likely to happen any time soon. The military people have a chain of command and they don't have to cooperate with civilians unless that chain of command issues an order to do so. Ultimately such an order would have to come from the President, but even the President is transitory and can be given the run around until their term is up.

What the ufology community needs to do is take a whole new approach. We don't need the government or the military or some official representative to tell us what we already know. What we need are more people with initiative ( like Chris with his camera project ), less kowtowing to the establishment, both scientific and political, and a well funded & organized interest group.

Getting an interest group organized poses many of the same problems as getting the government to cooperate. Everyone on an individual basis is so busy with issues of employment, housing, education, energy, transportation and health care that they haven't got any time or money for anything else. Most people have become slaves to the system they created. Sure UFOs are interesting, but who has time for it ... let alone money? At USI we have around 2000 members around the world, but few of them are actively involved because of all the factors above.

The other issue is the watering down of efforts by all the people who expend energy slamming themselves into windmills or wasting time adding another page to the other 1.7 million useless Google results for the subject. If we had just one dollar and a membership for every one of those pages, a real unified effort could be launched. I'd love nothing more than for USI to be able to say to guys like Chris ... hey good job, here's some money for the Camera Project. But no ... even getting people to sign up for free is a challenge. So what are we left to conclude? Once again ... sure, a lot of people find the subject of UFOs interesting, but not interesting enough to put even a tiny bit of money or effort into, and when they do, where do we see it go? Should mutual admiration conferences be the priority?
