I was about to post a similar thread but you beat me to it. 
How can they claim to have solved anything if they don't know where the sample actually came from. They said it was some kind of polar bear, hence the hair sample most likely came from a polar bear of some sort and not actually a yeti. Anyone can walk into a lab holding a strand of hair claiming they got it from a yeti or a sasquatch, but that doesn't mean that they're telling the truth. Sadly, hoaxers abound in this field. The yeti has not been debunked, nor proven to exist, therefore not much has changed in this regard. Much ado about nothing: Yeti DNA: has the mystery really been solved? | Science | theguardian.com
