Whats the rules on making personal profit from a .org?

Paranormal Adept
I hit a link today that took me to that "other" para-prefix of a show the one that is charging a buck .25 to listen to those kinds of shows now. Then i noticed it was http://para(dopia).org/

.ORG

huh?

wait a second isn't a .org for non-profits organization not a couple of dudes trying to make money from the para-prefix field?

is .org like a .edu that's strictly enforced or can any fool get a .org address?

just curious maybe Gene or Chris knows.

I owned an -org domain years ago, as long as donations/payments are voluntarily made to said club/organisation , you're ok.

I have had a .net and .org to my .com sites for 12 years and they have made a lot of money. There is no regulatory committee for internet domains and their usage. It doesn't matter what you do so long as it doesn't violate local law. By local I mean point of nexus for the company and the location of the physical server hosting the pages. Though I think charging for a paranormal podcast would decrease listenership and exposure, I don't think it is necessarily a bad thing. Most likely it is brought about by a lack of advertising sponsorship and the cost of storing and streaming the audio. Either way, I doubt they are swimming in piles and piles of cash from it.

Praise Zeus, this is still an unregulated field of commerce. Move forward and make hay while the sun is shining. I doubt it will last forever.
