The Watchers

Stagger Lee

Paranormal Adept
What are your thoughts on the Andreasson case, and Fowler's approach? I came across this book at my local library, and feel I should have read the first two by Fowler... I was a bit put off at the start of the book, when Fowler mentioned the hypnosis sessions would be conducted by Andreasson's (at the time) husband- as the original hypnotist(Fred) was not available. Even so, there seems to be much to this case long before her husband took over the sessions.
I thought I would get other's opinion before getting too deep into "The Watchers" -as you never know in this field. (I was half way through one of Imbrogno's books before I did a check on-line)

After a bit of a search, I found where Betty(Andreasson) and Bob's son cried hoax, back in '07. Fowler argued that the son was bitter over a family dispute- and should not be taken seriously, considering the son's history of drug abuse and problems with the law. I have to ask myself, how much of the data is legit(if any) -and how much was put forth for the sake of "another book sale"

Well, to take the critic's point of view, certainly you'd expect the son to be attacked for claiming it was all a hoax. Whether true or not is another story entirely.

It is very possible Betty had an unusual experience back in '67- witnessed by family members.. I just could not continue reading "The Watchers" with the thought that some material may have been conjured for the sake of filling a book. I like Fowler, but I think he may have compromised this case by letting Betty's husband Bob take over the sessions(hypnotic)

I think if you're looking for absolute truth when it comes to a lot of this paranormal stuff you're going to be continuously disappointed.

That being said, I thought The Watchers was a great story, the second book is interesting as well, but I don't think there's much truth to be found in it. If you're interested in the history and evolution of the abduction phenomenon it's a must read.

I'm not sure there will ever be any absolute truth to the abduction phenom. Alot of data.. about 300 reported abduction accounts back in 1985, that jumped into the thousands by the year 2000. Subjects from all walks of life- the "cleaner" of a building up to the "CEO" -without any unusual personality disorders. Without question, something is going on, be it internal or external. Seems many sceptical, claim sleep disorders can explain it all away. I agree, this may be the case with many. It's the cases where the subject is not "in bed" that interests me the most. I was excited and hopeful when Hopkins introduced the Linda Cortile case. Several independant witnesses, including two UN security pesons. Sadly, those two have never come forward, not to mention the UN figure (Perez?) they were escorting that night. What could keep such people silent after witnessing such an event? I suppose protecting your family would be enough to silence even a deathbed confession.. frustrating for those of us following these events.
