Dennis.pngDennis Stamey was born in Asheville, N.C., the hometown of the famous writer Thomas Wolfe (author of Look Homeward, Angel and other novels), and has an MA in ancient/medieval/renaissance studies and an MA certificate in modern European history. He became interested in UFOs in 1966 during the worldwide flap of the late 1960s, immersing himself in magazine articles written by John A. Keel. As well he studied the works of Charles Fort, and Gray Barker, subscribing to Barker's Saucer News magazine. Eventually Stamey started churning out a cheap mimeographed newsletter entitled Spacecraft Review and also contributed articles to Gene Steinberg's Caveat Emptor. He also took up a correspondence with Richard Shaver, who often called him an "idiot."

By the 1970s, life called and Dennis put his interests in UFOs and the paranormal aside. However, starting in the early 1980s, he began looking up Fortean articles in the N.Y. Times from 1870-1890, growing intrigued with phantom snipers and slashers. Eventually, Dennis, using library loan services, compiled a mountain of data from other cities in the U.S. and UK. Fast forward to 2020 while living in Katy, Texas, he was cleaning out his garage and lo and behold, found the clippings and photocopies he had collected years ago. With the help from his kids helped, he cataloged them and published the book "Mysterious Snipers, Slashers, and Animal Rippers: A History of Paranormal Assailants," co-authored with his children, Jillian and Jesse Stamey.

Dennis says that from what he was gleaning from all this information was that we were dealing not with extra or ultra-terrestrials, but projections from the Collective Unconscious. As of now, Stamey is gathering material for a second book where he will expand on his theory.

Dennis was a great guest - I really resonated with his skeptical approach & overall philosophy on the subject. He may be interested to read Eric Ouellet's book "Illuminations" which posits a similar theory of "mass psychosis events" & trying to relate unrelated events/sightings/misidentifications. Also parallels with CJJung's "Flying Saucers A Modern Myth" & Vallee's earlier works (b4 he got hoodwinked by "Trinity"
Time to get some sanity back into this subject which has got kindof hysterical of late and corrupted by massive amounts of money which can be "made" by scammers & cultists ... it's turned into a religion or faith by some on the online attacks on social media have become quite vitriolic.
All we want is the truth ... whatever it may turn out to be ... and this requires hard physical evidence 🤷‍♂️
