No Money!

Hello everyone.

Here is an idea, which I think would work and would make everyone on this parent be on the same footing.
Most of crime, if not all crime would drop/stop, and those that control would lose that control.

The idea is......

Get rid of the money system.

The reason I say this is that money has not always been a thing that us humans have needed to live, but, now we have been so conditioned in to believing that money will make things better when all it does is stops us from living. And in some cases, life has become bad becuase of money.
Before you say, "no that will not work". Think about it.
Humans have been here on this parent for a long time and money has been round for a short time.

What did us children (humans), do before the idea of money or things like money came to be?

Just think about it.

People will never be on the same footing.

What you are talking about is a communal sharing or equality matching society. These relationships work well for families or other deeply intricate groups.
We are not created equally. The population is composed of billions of different variations of size, shape, and personality. To think we could all be on the same footing would mean that everyone would be rewarded equally for different amounts of work. Most large, modern societies use a market pricing form of exchange in which everyone gets out in proportion to what they put in.

Crime will never end. There will always be desperation, addiction, greed, and lust. Money doesn't cause crime. People do.

No. Monetary systems are known to have existed in almost every culture throughout time. Whether it was coins and papers or shells and beads, we've always used something for money.

What did us children (humans), do before the idea of money or things like money came to be?

Barter... honestly, what are they teaching in schools these days?

Money is not the problem; GREED is the problem. Learn to differentiate between the two.

Sorry, Lee. I believe in a meritocracy. And one of the key measures of merit is "wealth". Now you can argue about the definition of merit and relative worth and all the other stuff, but in our system there's a definite correlation between value and compensation. Now you can argue about value and fair compensation, but in our system it's driven by the people who own and operate the enterprise. Now you can argue about who really owns and operates the enterprise...ad infinitum.

The short of it is that people want to earn more based on their talents, education, contribution, etc. The Soviet Union was a marvelous demonstration of failed socialism on every level. Wealth is good (within limits). It's how wealth is used that can be problematic, just as envy of wealth is bad. And with the top earners (those over $200,000) earning 25.5% of all income but paying 50.0% of all federal income taxes, we all theoretically benefit from wealth through our little income redistribution system here.

If everyone could have anything they could want than it wouldn't be a problem....work 2 hours cleaning toilets & here's that car you wanted. Hah.

Contact from the Planet Iagar made me seriously think about how a system like the one proposed could work...Google that book and you can pick up a .PDF version of it; it's very very well written if it's fiction because it makes a lot of sense & well....this is a UFO based forum isn't it?
