Interesting Sighting 5/26/15

Good Day Everyone!

I have been away from the forums for a bit dealing with a family health issue however I had an interesting daytime sighting of an "unusual" flying object yesterday that had me scratching my head. It was in fact my second daytime sighting in two weeks so I figured I'd lay them out briefly in hopes that perhaps there's an explanation.

I'll begin with yesterday. I was outside speaking with an HVAC contractor while he was adding freon to my home A/C unit when I happened to look up & saw what appeared to be a white cylindrical object. My first thought was that it was a balloon of the variety used to make balloon animals at a kids party however it was a bit too large in my estimation to be that type of balloon. Oh & it was several hundred feet in the air. I tapped my A/C man on the shoulder & said "what's that" to which he replied he had no idea. As he spoke that phrase it turned 90 degrees toward the south & zipped upward another hundred feet or so and then slowly made its way out of sight. Honestly we both were puzzled but neither wanted to make a big deal out of it but I committed as much to memory as I was able to & promised myself I'd document the sighting somewhere. This object appeared to react to us seeing it (or it was wind and a coincidence) since as I said, no sooner had we both spoke of it and pointed that it changed direction and moved.

Next sighting was during this week as I was driving past a local shopping mall when I saw on my left what at first glance what appeared to be once again a white balloon perhaps 6 feet in diameter however this time it was round & moving at a pace I'd estimate to be 45 miles per hour at a distance of a few hundred yards. A bit fast for a balloon in my estimation! I lost it very shortly after seeing it as it went behind a department store but I didn't fret as I was certain that I'd see it come out the other side of the building blocking my view any second. Well it never came out the other side which led me to believe that it either quickly descended or crashed (possible I suppose) or who knows? The direction it was traveling was from west to east.

I'll do more research on my own once I get Mom home from the hospital but I thought I'd ask the Paracast forum's if anyone has heard of or seen anything characteristic of what I described. Maybe my little town is being invaded by balloons! But both exhibited movements uncharacteristic of balloons I've seen in the past.

Thanks for reading & I will update once I've done more research.

Hello Pigsinzen:

Thanks for sharing your sightings. I have a close relative who has seen a cylinder with flashing lights and what seemed to be windows or portals. Wondering if you saw any kind of detail on either of them?

I managed to catch the "outline" of cylinder shape zooming eastward one night out in the middle of the Joshua Tree desert. There were bursts coming from the back, and there was a distinct blue outline around the object. There was no way on God's green earth that was a balloon. I doubt what you saw was one either as changing directions that abruptly would be impossible.

Wondering if you "felt" anything during your sighting, or days afterward for that matter?

Also thought I'd share this part of my Topanga Canyon capture with you as I think it may be a cylinder type as well. Its quite far away and moving so fast its difficult to tell.

Looking at the video again, Angel of Loren has a good point that it looks like it might be a "rod", although we may not agree on what a "rod" actually is. It does seem to exhibit a spiral quality for a moment as it appears, but the flight and light pattern that follows looks not like a "rod", but like other cylinders I've seen captured in the past.

Did it look like this?

This one from a New Orleans sports broadcast illustrates. Quite the "sneak by".
