Idea: Where are we now?

Thermionic Elitist (not Tube Snob)
Is it worth taking a meta-look at how far we've come (if at all) from, for sake of argument, Roswell?

What have we discovered since `47? What has our research actually told us?
(Might be too depressing but it's an idea.)

Is `Disclosure' merely a word to generate podcasts?

We're definitely less tolerant of gov't crap than the Roswellians.

Do we need more stories like Villa-Boas(?) where the female alien had her way with him?

Will Basset be right, even by accident?

Discovered? About what? UFOs?

Until people stop fighting about whether they are real, no real progress can be made.

We certainly have many more puzzle pieces, but without the box, we don't know what the picture is supposed to look like! So we keep looking for the straight bits, but there isn't any.

Do you mean do we have any answers? Of course not. I'm not even sure we know what the questions are.

The only disclosure that could happen is a government showing what info they have... like good photos, or film or video. If we are lucky, some physical evidence.

But then many people will freak out, and demand answers. But they don't have any answers. So that puts them in the uncomfortable situation of not being in control of the situation. Then you will get people claiming to have the answers, as they do now, but with the apparent government backing (which doesn't exist, but since the government said UFOs are real, people will look for any source of the "truth" about it).

So the panicky people will flock to their clergy or what ever quack has some "answers", whether it's doom and gloom, or benevolent space brothers, and they will all be off the mark.

All this will make any real contact, besides the contact that's already going on, all the more difficult. Picture angry mobs with torches. And even with the contact we have now, they aren't telling us any answers. No answers that make sense, anyway.

So, as far as I see it, that's where we are. I think the real researchers have more puzzle pieces, but the disinformation people keep mixing in duds.

But hang in there... it might not be too long.

Ok, now that you are through attempting to pour cold water all over my suggestion (nothing personal, I know), perhaps you'd care to share with us why you feel it might not be too long.
