Kind of ironic, maybe even hypocritical. Paul Kimball rips into David Biedny in a thread suggesting that David was missed and served a vital role on The Paracast. Soon after, in another thread he chides a poster and closes a thread intended to "elevate" personal attacks (admittedly not the finest idea!) by suggesting ad hominem and personal attacks were inappropriate.
It is peculiar that so many self-described seekers of truth are so fast to censor debate, silence contention and set themselves as designated arbiters of propriety. As I have written to Kiimball in the past, lawyers should be first in line to defend any speech, regardless of wounded sentiments or personal sensitivities. One lawyer to another, I find his quick-censor-trigger-finger unfortunate and Gene's even-quicker-finger just unseemly. Duplicity is only one of the personality quirks which have made paranormalmania so interesting, entertaining and, at its core, such a thoroughly useless bit of fluff. I have observed it as a mildly interested, if completely unconvinced, outsider for decades. And it has never proven a thing, never given rise to a true "star" who could truly lead; in fact, it is one of the few "fields" that has never even found its voice. It devotes an inordinate amount of time and energy in personal battles and turf struggles, rather than defining and driving towards its worthwhile goals (whatever they may be).
