    The December 20th Show.

Lol, maybe : he came across as a bit of a 'hustler' to me but your right : we should be wary of assuming particular motivations when other rational people see it differently. The internet is said to be good at producing 'polarised opinions' : I like your more tempered approach.

    The December 20th Show.

I thanked you and then decided to add a comment. I appreciate your partial defence of him. We should be careful not to be too dualistic about the worth of guests. I think you are right to temper the more extreme dismissals.:)

    The December 20th Show.

The guys argument about the tabloid press is absurd. His comparators, even if accurate, merely shows the decline of more serious news sources rather than any defence of the infotainment found in tabloids, Fox etc..

Erm ... there seems to be an unfortunate mix-up of phrases here. I think the use of Wikipedia is okay for such a basic explanation. teabagging : Wikimedia Error "Teabagging is a slang term for the act of a man placing his scrotum in the mouth[1] or on or around the face (including the...

Well, yes and good for you but you must accept that you are relatively unusual, probably. It's a free podcast, they put it out there and I 'pay the hosts back' by listening to it - there are probably more people with my level of investment in the show and such level of investment is entirely...

Pay ten dollars for a co-host of a podcast I listen to to have a trip up the Amazon? Actually, no I wouldn't. Go for it but I'd be surprised if you raised enough donations to pay for it. Just saying, like :-).

Seriously, mate I like this show, I really do but I would be astounded if people would pay to send Biedny on a trip along the Amazon. Seriously like... really.

    Stanford and O'Brien Episode - October 4, 2009

My own position is that Dave should take a break : I think, at the moment, he is damaging his own position by being a sort of permanently pissed off waste of space (that sounds harsh but I don't see the negativity contributing much - sorry)

I don't think this has been mentioned but I heard that a disproprtionate number of people die around the 3am time. Given the normal human 24 hour cycle it is when we are physiologically at our 'lowest ebb'.

    Sept 6 - Curt Sutherly

I thought it was a bit dull:frown:. Each to their own, though:) (yeah, I know I don't have to listen, should just ask for my money back etc.). :D

August 30th Episode with Karl Mamer

I think you slightly misunderstood my point. I was talking about what part 'credentials' play with regard to participants on a forum debating issues which are basically philosophical in nature ('can we trust witness testimony?' etc) rather than with regard to witnesses of phenomena. On...

August 30th Episode with Karl Mamer

Very childishly ad hominem, indeed. All this "who are you?" stuff is just dick waving (and an attempt to smuggle in an 'argument from authority') : isn't it the force of the argument that is the only relevant factor? Didn't Kant say something about the court of reason being the only...

Gene Steinberg - Please stop laughing

Bloody hell - this place is getting ridiculous in it's one-eyed defences. Yes, Gene has what Gareth calls a 'radio laugh', which is trotted out from time to time (when someone says something unfunny but politeness demands 'recognition through laughter') . It sounds a little insincere. The...

Return of the Mysterious Universe Podcast

Funnily enough, the Paracast was the first podcast of this type I listened to (first Greer interview happened to be the first). I found MU dull because it was just Grundy reading out stories.

The Frank and Dennis show 26/7

Actually, to be fair, you were interesting and have clearly researched your topic in a professional way. I guess I was referring (in my 'drinking game' comment) to db's run through of all his 'favourite points' again;) - though I tend to agree with a lot of them:D.
