David Huggins & Jim Moseley (Nov 15th 2009)

Yeah.... I think much of it seems fabricated or exaggerated. However, he said a few things that made me think about some of my own experiences, and those of others I have read. Now he could have read this stuff elsewhere, since so many people seem to have similar experiences, but it's making...

    Mac Tonnies passes away

Wow, what a shock! I had just spent Friday walking about town listening to an interview with him on another podcast and thinking how much I always enjoyed listening to him. I was looking forward to his book and even visited his blog later that day. Then I got the Paracast newsletter...

    Yes! Sheldrake is great.

Walter Starcke: What am I missing?

Exactly. I didn't agree with everything Walter said, but there was a lot of good stuff in there to make you think. I think it's a good idea to have your beliefs challenged on a daily basis. It enables you to look at things from a different perspective. And if it were up to Walter, I'd...

August 30th Episode with Karl Mamer

Most of everything you know was told to you by someone who experienced it, but you didn't. Like all of history. So everything you are experiencing right now is inaccurate? If you answer "no", how can you prove it? You trust your own observational skills, right? That's part of how we survive...

August 30th Episode with Karl Mamer

That's over simplifying the issue. What if I say I saw a structured metallic craft, hovering silently in the sky. Now a skeptic will come along and try and explain it as something mundane. Or say I'm lying or mistaken. Well now the skeptic is making an accusation, or a claim it was something...

August 30th Episode with Karl Mamer

Oh come on now... it wasn't factual. Let's take an example. He uses the logic that David says if there's smoke there must be fire, and then posts some YouTube video that shows smoke with no fire. Does that even make any sense in the context of his post? None what-so-ever. That's like me...

August 30th Episode with Karl Mamer

Yeah, Bravo to David and Gene... they both kept backing him into a corner... then David finally got him to concede "well maybe I would believe it if I saw it" (I'm paraphrasing of course). And that every sighting is a misidentification... of Venus? Venus looks like a single bright dot. Not at...

That's what made me look her up! You can tell she's been shouting for a long time... like a Carny. I was curious what she looked like. It's very funny.

NPR did a piece about a month ago refuting an article that said organic wasn't any better for you, and had a lot of interesting facts from a few studies showing it was better. I usually just buy it to get away from the chemicals and help the smaller growers, so I was surprised with the study.

Organic food does have more vitamins in it... I try to by organic when I can, but it's a shame that eating well is so damn expensive. The bananas we eat might become extinct soon anyway so... eat 'em while you can!

I'm sure Geller is probably faking it. Oh I like the show! I also like MythBusters. I just wouldn't use either as a basis for disproving something, though MythBusters does a better job most of the time, and of course they rarely take on topics like the paranormal.

But they aren't really qualified in doing so, and Randi's debunking of Geller was pretty flawed as well. Just because Randi can fake bending a spoon doesn't mean that Geller fakes bending spoons. Maybe he did, but that's still a circular argument, and all it proves is that Randi knows how to do...

Ha! :D I guess people are looking for some answers.. and science isn't interested in even entertaining the idea. Check out the book "The Self Aware Universe" by Dr. Amit Goswami. He attempts to tie in many things that we would call paranormal by making consensus the basis of matter...

Right, but my point was there could be things as basic as the electromagnetic spectrum that we have not yet discovered, and is important to reality as we know it. One such thing would be what Rupert Sheldrake called the Morphic Field. This is also akin to what Carl Jung called the collective...

Right, they are two unique theories because they are incomplete. They are not separate in reality, right? Theories are not concrete. When we learn new things, theories can change. The fact that they can't fit something as basic as gravitation into the equations without using particles either...

I'm debunking you! If you really did any reading on this you would see that your claims are false. Otherwise show some data. Once again, there is plenty of empirical evidence. Because debunking is not science. Period. Debunkers don't look at the facts, they use opinion. Take away all the...

First off, you are just saying that off the top of your head with zero research into the subject, right? Skeptics are often not scientists. Real skepticism is not debunking. Responding to Skepticism We have skeptics that say the earth is flat, and is only 4,000 years old! Most of the...

Sorry, but you are incorrect. We know a lot about gravitation in Newtonian physics, but it doesn't fit into quantum mechanics. It might if we discover a graviton, but we haven't as of yet. The LHC might solve that riddle though. But currently we don't know that such a particle exists...

I happened to look up one of your new advertisers... Roni Lynn Deutch. it seems she has a lot of complaints against her firm, and had to pay NYC $300,000 for deceptively advertising tax services. I don't know anything about her firm, but there seems to be people saying she's a crook. Might...
