    Show Suggestion: John Keel

I'd like to hear another show about John Keel. As a longtime admirer of his irreverent and insightful work (entertainment), I was sorely stumped and disappointed by the memorial episode which was less a memorial than a scathing denouncement of his life and work. I think there is immense value...

    Trickster Theory Simplified

Justcurious, Oddly enough, I hadn't noticed your discussing this very issue on the other thread. I've been catching up on past paracasts and related pods, and though I don't 100% agree with the trickster theory (if there ever is one I commit to 100%, feel free to commit me to a suitable...

    Mark Pilkington

For a moment, I thought you'd said Karl Pilkington..... but yes, I'll second MARK Pilkington.

    Fortean Pop Music

Given you have a good taste in music, you need to check out some older NZ bands. In an attempt to keep this on topic: The Clean perform "Fish" live, and it must be related to the Fortean falling fish phenomena: The Tall Dwarfs video shows obvious poltergeist activity in "Nothing's...

    Digitized music from Dean Fagerstrom

I just listened to this episode, and would love to hear the tape.... anybody still have a copy of the mp3 file?

    Street Light Interference

Damn, thanks. I feel slightly more dumb than usual not looking that up before posting the above -- I have looked the phenom up previously and found some goofy videos on youtube. I used to read Evans' stuff in Fortean Times back in the 90's, and am a fan of the works Anomalist releases... no...

    Fortean Pop Music

Noting you're from NZ, I seem to recall The Dead C having a 'song' titled "Driver UFO".... it's not pop/rock, but I guess worth noting (most of the songs sound like somebody left a vacuum cleaner on....and then plugged it to an amplifier.... and then used it to suck up ball bearings.... and then...

    Street Light Interference

OK. I don't think this is paranormal, but I don't think it has been explained or properly acknowledged, so maybe worth a mention for the curious. When I walk (or drive) under lit streetlights, there's an unusually good chance that one of them will blink out as I come to close proximity. I...

    Questions for David Hatcher Childress

In all seriousness, I'd be interested in hearing some stories of his adventures looking for lost cities and civilizations. More about how he mounts his expeditions than what he thinks about the moon -- I realize this is the paracast, but giant snakes and high adventure rarely fails to entertain...

    Fortean Pop Music

"Camouflage" was f'kin outstanding song, great story, terrific tune and brilliant delivery. Alongside "Mexican Radio" my fave Ridgeway tune. I remember seeing Orb videos on MTV Europe in the early 90s, definitely ufo-oriented. Brings to mind Jon Spencer Blues Explosion video "Dang," with a...

    Trickster Theory Simplified

Paul, I'm sure you know Chris better than I do -- I'm going on from several of his interviews, and I haven't read the book. But unlike, say, Childress who stated a lot of things nonchalantly as fact (it was entertaining, in a radio train wreck kind of way), O'Brien doesn't come off as a...

    Trickster Theory Simplified

justcurious, thanks for the clarification, though I think I may need Heisenberg for Dummies. I'm not all that scientifically learned (surprising, I know ) and always have a hard time grasping theoretical concepts. It reads close to how I grasp the Observer Effect, which is...

    Trickster Theory Simplified

Ron and Paul, I honestly hate not having a strong obnoxious viewpoint, instead of my "you could be right, I could be right, who knows and I don't think I'll ever know for sure" schtick. But given that I like the agnostic view in almost everything in life, I'm stuck with my own uncertain...

    Trickster Theory Simplified

Paul, I'm not that far off from your view in that it can't be proven either way. The lack of evidence for, say, the ETH, after this long a time though just makes me a skeptic. Not even one truly good photo? To me the nuts and bolts side often comes across just as much a religion. As for the...

    Trickster Theory Simplified

I have no experiences of the paranormal, beyond the odd coincidences and some repeated peculiar dreams I had as a child of 4-5 years old. I have close friends who have had much more tricksterish experiences (a series of events capped by what parallels experiences related by John Keel when...

    Trickster Theory Simplified

Lance, You're right, of course, but "Trickster Theory simplified" sounds better than "Trickster Speculation simplified" (I do work as a fiction editor). I doubt it could be proven, either. I should state that I don't 'believe' this theory, but I like it better than most and it's worth...

    Trickster Theory Simplified

I've been interested in this for a bit now, and thought I'd try and summarize it in as simple terms as I can, and get some feedback/thoughts from members here. Trickster Theory Simplified: It supposes there is a probably natural 'force,' like the wind, that is unconscious (though possibly...

    Nuts and Bolts

What Kandinsky said -- November 29 I think is the main one. He also discusses it on Dark Matters, I think the second appearance on that one is the best on the subject (week 16?), and on the season 5 episode of Binnall of America.

    Fortean Pop Music

I've always listened to music that relates to Fortean themes. A short list of repeat offenders and main suspects follows. Can you add to it? Neil Young ("After the Gold Rush") Frank Black / Black Francis / Pixies (too many to list, but offhand Motorway to Roswell, Parry the Wind High Low...

Some questions I have about introducing new people to the field.

Have them read or listen to Robert Anton Wilson. He was a funny and appropriately blasphemous thinker, both of which make him attractive to kids who are curious, smart and still wish to remain hip. His street cred runs near infinity.
