    Star Trek Discovery

I was literally born a Trekkie into a Trekkie family. My wife has put up with it for 20+ years, and watched every single episode, movie, and gone to many conventions with me. And this is the first Star Trek that I've ever given up on. So very very bad. But Lower Decks is awesome.

    Whistleblowers & Truth Seekers

If you're going to post that stuff... do you want to post proudboys or white nationalist cult stuff as well?

    COVID-19 News

Uh, what? Covid is a disease, not a criminal act. The (current) criminal act would be not obeying the by-laws, not having or not having covid. Just like (I think) it's a crime to knowingly have unsafe sex while you have AIDs without disclosing it. The crime isn't having the disease, it's...

    COVID-19 News

So... how do you know if it's present or not? I know you know how the math works, but it raises to a probability of someone having it the more people that gather because it multiplies. The more people you're in contact with, the higher the odds. Any one of them could have it and not care (as is...

    COVID-19 News

I think that's a fair response. How would you like to frame the debate? I'm with you. Sure. I'd just add vaccinations now. I hope you're in favour of rolling out vaccines quickly and encouraging people to get them? The data there is fairly clear. Wearing a mask blocks up to 99% of the virus...

    COVID-19 News

Check the graph below (for some reason it won't embed). That spike is when we started the new lockdown enforcement in Alberta. It's since declined. Look at the colours leading up to it - all few restrictions. When restrictions are off, you get more cases and deaths. When they're on, they...

    Tom Cruise Makes Sense!

ya, soon-ish, at least. Hopefully there's light at the end of the tunnel, and hopefully the vaccines work against this new strain out of the UK.

    COVID-19 News

Yup it's wild. There were 3-4 people with them there. I hate Nenshi, but he's right about this. Lockdowns are not more deadly than Covid. They are damaging, to be sure - so we should minimize them. And the way to minimize them is to wear masks and abide by the lockdown. The more we do it, the...

    Tom Cruise Makes Sense!

My thinking on this is quite simple. People are dying, and so is our economy. Wearing a mask is a minor inconvenience that will help move the needle on all that, and get us out of lockdown sooner. Therefore, we should do it. This isn't about liberty. It's about rationality. Look at how our...

    Coronavirus & The Entertainment Industry

A buddy I do martial arts with does a lot of the filming out here... and he’s pretty much totally shut down. He says everything is. Apparently the SAG and others have shuttered things, and it’s impossible to get insurance for shoots. So I seriously doubt it was filmed during the pandemic.

    Tom Cruise Makes Sense!

Meh. It’s time to take off the gloves with the anti-maskers and covid deniers. Once they risk other people’s lives, they lose both the benefit of my doubt and the benefit of my civility.

    COVID-19 News

Did you see footage of the anti-masker protests downtown? With Trump 2020 flags? Infuriating. Nauseating. So stupid.

    'Fast Movers' and 'Transmedium Vehicles'?

I’ll be honest - I love hearing Redfern interviewed and generally enjoy his billions of books - but I treat them as rather light material. I have noticed for example, his latest book on Mars literally contradicts several things he’s said in his previous works, including the Rendlesham one. And...

On The Show - Ronald Olch & Christopher O'Brien

Oh, man I can’t wait to hear Chris’ voice again. I remember chatting to him somewhere about his projects and potential future podcasts - I’d love to get an update on that stuff. And if he’s still been chatting to Stanford, and has any new info in that regard as well. I’d love to hear Ray’s take...

    Complaints Desk

How is being ‘intellectually abrasive’ a complaint, exactly? ”Separating the signal from noise” used to be the tagline here. Hard to do that without being intellectually abrasive at times... At any rate Randall, I think you’re extremely even handed. More than I’d be, that’s for sure. And Gene...

    'Fast Movers' and 'Transmedium Vehicles'?

I finally got around to reading Redfern’s book on Rendlesham... while by no means is it definitive it does pose some interesting questions about the whole thing being faked. Thoughts about that?

    'Fast Movers' and 'Transmedium Vehicles'?

On reddit somewhere, they posted the actual high-altitude weather balloon. And it’s identical. Like, I mean 100% no-question identical. If I come across it again I’ll post it.

Former Israeli space security chief says aliens exist, humanity not ready

I give this about as much credence as I do Paul Hillyer's nonsense. As a Canadian, I can reasonably assure you that he's a loon, no matter the fact that he used to be a defence minister for us. We've also voted in flat earth's, anti-vaxxers, and creationists. We're as loony as the rest of you.

    'Fast Movers' and 'Transmedium Vehicles'?

Right. The whole thing looks like a theatrical set-up to me. Right down to pulling focus on the 'to the stars' stuff which looks exactly like the kind of things the entertainment industry used to do working together with the military. It's like we're suddenly expected to only pay attention to...

    'Fast Movers' and 'Transmedium Vehicles'?

My thinking: either the military doesn't know it's a balloon and therefore doesn't know it's own ass from a hole in the wall, or it does know it's a balloon and this whole disclosure thing could be BS.
