2012 = Mayan Calendar + biblical armageddon

Free episodes:

>

Nothing will happen in 2012. Of course, there will be a lot of wheedling from those who have been pushing 2012 as apocalyptic. Some of them are already doing it.

"2012, you see, is simply a time of slow transition. All the natural and man-made disasters of the last hundred years -- and the next -- are part of this broad apocalyptic pattern."

"We got the date wrong -- it's actually 2022 (or whatever)."

"The big change in 2012 is actually spiritual in nature. There will be a major shift in humanity, but from the inside. If you don't see this change, then you have not looked hard enough -- or bought enough of my books that will tell you how you can experience this spiritual revolution."

But other than having to listen to this sort of backpeddling, I don't think we have anything to fear about 2012.

California was supposed to fall into the sea in 1969. At least that's what lots of people blithered about for several years before that. I have the feeling 2012 is going to be pretty much the same thing.

Aye-- to be honest, I'd be more inclined to believe in California falling into the sea! And natural disasters have been happening for as long as there has been nature. They will continue to happen long after every prophesied "end of the world". I don't think that people can backpedal on this one -- the Mayan calendars were pretty clear on what date this shall be. How about an "end of the world party" that'd be cool. You don't have to believe it will actually happen -- any excuse for a party!!

lets make sure we're all on facts.

Dinosaurs died off 65,000,000 years ago from a large impact from space that caused mass starvation and total resetting of life on earth. Not a polar shift.

Since then. Humans emerged as the next dominant species. Remember this though. We "humans" have only been around for 100,000 years.

THE END IS NOT NEAR. You are victim to progressive shit that fills society of today. You can thank the progressives for your fears and it will be a progressive that tries to bring the end. however, They will fail surely. And show how "Progress" is the swineflu of end times itself.
^^
It will be then, and only then, that the true shift in humanity returns to Value's and Rights given by God. Not Secular progressive liberalism that has torn mankind apart.

The Mayan calendar speaks of a rebirth at 2012, not an end. Your 2022 crap is invalid of a polar shift. A "Polar Shift" would not affect our planet for thousands of years even "if there was" a polar shift, due to the vastness scale theorist's predict on compared the small scale our local solar system resides in. Plus where's the carbon dating that show Polar Shifts happening every 80 million years? There are none. I've yet to see a scientist emerge with hard factual data of it. It's all hogwash twisted data and formula's skewed to formulate answer's that change with every passing generation falling more and more into Progressive "End Times" crap. This generation is on 2012. etc etc.

however it is all relative and we could totally be fucked on dec 22 2012. More then likely from psycho ahmedinejad then nature.

It will be then, and only then, that the true shift in humanity returns to Value's and Rights given by God. Not Secular progressive liberalism that has torn mankind apart.

What are you talking about. Look at the ideals of the countries that are the most peaceful and then get back to me. Most of them are secular, progressive states.

CapnG you really bring well used info to judge me beyond your minimal reading capabilities.

Seems like your anarchist traits will pleasure you soon enough. As i'm sure we'll meet on the battlefield for humanities future. You will loose. Because there’s more of me then you. Good wins over evil. I'm sure your already willing do die. As I already am. But if your not. I suggest you check your shit and to what side you stand on.

I'm no fundamentalist. I'm a relativist. Clearly you missed that in your judgment. Except this relativist believe in the power that binds our universe as the god which "is us" and created us. You believe in nothing but the... well i don't know? Anarchy? Death? Starvation? Communism? You tell me, for i have nothing sense what you may believe from you meager false judgment.

@Angel of Ioren
How about you list your "happy Progressive states"?
I seem to think if Riot's going on in half the worlds countries that call themselves Progressive Socialist states. Where's the one's your thinking of?

CapnG you really bring well used info to judge me beyond your minimal reading capabilities.

Oh, I'd say I'm on the money so far, given what follows.

Seems like your anarchist traits will pleasure you soon enough.

No part of me is anarchist, quite the opposite. But I doubt you can understand that with your obvious, narrow, black-and-white, us-versus-them worldview.

As i'm sure we'll meet on the battlefield for humanities future. You will loose. Because there’s more of me then you. Good wins over evil. I'm sure your already willing do die. As I already am. But if your not. I suggest you check your shit and to what side you stand on.

It's "humanity's", "lose" and "than" you illiterate moron, "loose" is what the cogs rattling around in what laughingly qualifies as your brain are. You think you're on the side of good? YOU'RE THE PROBLEM. You and those who think like you, superstitious, anachronistic, boat-anchors on the advance of human civilzation the lot of you. I'm ashamed to have to live on the same planet with you ridiculous throwbacks.

I'm no fundamentalist. I'm a relativist. Clearly you missed that in your judgment. Except this relativist believe in the power that binds our universe as the god which "is us" and created us.

In other words you're a fundamentalist who just doesn't like being called a fundamentalist. Aww... doesn't change what you are, I'm afraid. The only difference between guys like you and the Taliban is the name on the door.

You believe in nothing but the... well i don't know? Anarchy? Death? Starvation? Communism?

If one of us worships anarchy and death, it's probably the guy rambling on about "the battlefield for humanities future" and proclaiming "I'm sure your already willing do die. As I already am". Which one of us was that again?

You tell me, for i have nothing sense what you may believe from you meager false judgment.

I "believe" in nothing. Beliefs are for children and ALL religions are false, man-made constructs designed to keep gullible nitwits in line.

You are either a paranoid idiot or a psychopath.

In the late 1950's, scientists mapped the present-day magnetic field generated by rocks on the floor of the Pacific Ocean. The volcanic rocks which make up the sea floor have magnetization because, as they cool, magnetic minerals within the rock align to the Earth's magnetic field. The intensity of the magnetic field they measured was very different from the intensity they had calculated. Thus, the scientists detected magnetic anomalies, or differences in the magnetic field from place to place. They found positive and negative magnetic anomalies. Positive magnetic anomalies are places where the magnetic field is stronger than expected. Positive magnetic anomalies are induced when the rock cools and solidifies with the Earth's north magnetic pole in the northern geographic hemisphere. The Earth's magnetic field is enhanced by the magnetic field of the rock. Negative magnetic anomalies are magnetic anomalies that are weaker than expected. Negative magnetic anomalies are induced when the rock cools and solidifies with the Earth's north magnetic pole in the southern geographic hemisphere. The resultant magnetic field is less than expected because the Earth's magnetic field is reduced by the magnetic field of the rock.
earth15.gif

When mapped, the anomalies produce a zebra-striped pattern of parallel positive and negative bands. The pattern was centered along, and symmetrical to, the mid-ocean ridge.
A hypothesis was presented in 1963 by Fred Vine and Drummond Matthews to explain this pattern. They proposed that lava erupted at different times along the rift at the crest of the mid-ocean ridges preserved different magnetic anomalies.
earth16.gif

For example, lava erupted in the geologic past, when the north magnetic pole was in the northern hemisphere, preserved a positive magnetic anomaly.
earth17.gif

In contrast, lava erupted in the geologic past, when the north magnetic pole was in the southern hemisphere, preserved a negative magnetic anomaly.

On Dinosaurs.....
If the Biblical chronology is correct, organisms such as the dinosaurs and humans must have cohabited the world for more than 1500 years prior to the flood. Likewise, the dinosaurs were also among the animals spared from the flood along with all others, and lived on earth following the flood with humans for an indefinite period of time.
dinofeeding.jpg
If the Bible is true, then most of the animals we find fossilized were buried during the great flood of Noah. It is clear that countless species became extinct as a result of this catastrophe, however pairs of each kind of animal were brought to the ark by God so they would be spared from the flood and repopulate the earth. As the specifics regarding their preservation were provided by God, it is logical that they would also survive the post-flood environment. Therefore, according to this theory, the dinosaurs that were on board the ark probably did not go extinct from natural difficulties, but have instead either
perished at man's hand, or some may still be alive today.

http://www.nwcreation.net/dinosaurs.html

The Bible is clear. The ancestors of every animal that ever lived were created during Creation Week. Each basic animal type was created "after his kind" and all subsequent individual animals, including dinosaurs, descended from these created categories.
On Day Five (Genesis 1:20-23) God created marine life and flying animals, but animals such as the plesiosaur and flying reptiles weren't dinosaurs. However, the Bible does mention "great whales" (v. 21) literally "great sea monsters" or "great dragons." Such terms bring up images of beasts reminiscent of modern re-constructions of dinosaurs and giant marine reptiles.
Day Six saw land animals created (vs. 24-31). Since dinosaurs were land creatures of a variety of sizes and habits, they would be included among the various "kinds" of "living creatures": the "cattle" or domesticated animals; the "creeping things" or small animals; and the "beasts of the earth", the large animals. They were of necessity air-breathing and land-dwelling.
At first, everything was "very good" (v. 31), but soon sin entered, resulting in the curse (Genesis 3) and, eventually, Noah's Flood (Genesis 6-9). Noah was told to take on board the Ark two of each kind of created animal "in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land" (7:22), including, no doubt, dinosaurs.
Outside the Ark, marine creatures died by the trillions, but at least some of them survived to continue those "kinds" after the flood, and thus at least some marine "dragons" survived. Sailors have ever since, even up to the present, reported "dragons" at sea. It may be that some are still alive.
The land and flying dinosaurs could only have survived on the Ark, only to disembark at the end of the flood into a strange and hostile world. We can surmise that the environmental conditions, with the sparse vegetation, the destruction of the pre-flood water canopy, and the temperature extremes during the ensuing Ice Age would have caused many animal types to become extinct, a process which continues today. Evidently the dinosaurs just didn't make it!

So are you saying the bible is wrong ?

Clearly reading the links above Dinosaurs were taken onto the ark.......

If the Biblical chronology is correct, organisms such as the dinosaurs and humans must have cohabited the world for more than 1500 years prior to the flood...............

You saying the bible is wrong ?, be careful now. thats blasphemy

The Bible says the world is about six thousand years old. How do we arrive at that number?
holy-bible-200.jpg
The Bible provides a complete genealogy from Adam to Jesus. You can go through the genealogies and add up the years. You'll get a total that is just over 4,000 years. Add the 2,000 years since the time of Jesus and you get just over 6,000 years since God created everything.

Is there anything wrong with figuring out the age of the earth this way? No. There is nothing to indicate the genealogies are incomplete. There is nothing to indicate God left anything out. There is nothing in the Bible that indicates in any way that the world is older than 6,000 years old.
The Bible does tell us, however, that the fossils we find could not have been buried before God created Adam. The animals whose bones became fossilized had to have died after God created Adam. That means those fossils must be less than 6,000 yers old. Here's why:
fossil-raptor.jpg
How do we get fossils?

The animal has to first die. That's rather obvious. When did death enter the world? Not until Genesis chapter three when Adam and Eve disobey God. So up until that time neither people nor animals died. So, based on the Bible, there could not be any bones to create fossils until after the fall.
Here's another Biblical reason why the fossils we find could not have been buried before God created Adam:
When we examine fossils, in some of them we see evidence of sickness, disease and cancer. There is evidence of violence and of one animal eating another. So there were some problems. Not everything was good.
Yet, at the end of day six of creation: "God saw all that He made and behold. It was very good." (Genesis 1:31 NASB)
God didn't call His creation just good. He called it very good. A world with sickness, disease, cancer and violence is not good. So, the fossilized bones we now find had to have come from animals that died after God created Adam, and after the fall.

Well, you know, like Canada, Finland, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Japan, just to name a few. All those countries are secular if I'm not mistaken.

Making statements about how "secular progressive liberalism" has "torn mankind apart" is kinda/sorta ridiculous. I have nothing against people being religious, it's a personal choice. Just don't force it on to those that just want to live and not think about some unseen being that is watching over their every move like I do when I play the Sims. Hopefully no one drops me in a pool with no way out where I'll die a horrible death.

Mike... you are... AWESOME.

Ah but don't forget, the Bible also claims all early humans had ridiciulously long lifespans on the order of centuries (not just Methusela, EVERYBODY) which totally fubars the geneological timeline concept simply by bringing into question in what century of their extraordinarily long life X begat Y. The potential gap is nearly 8,000 years. I would hesitate to call that accurate dating.

You are not mistaken.
Add to that: Australia, Singapore, Britain, NEW ZEALAND!!, much of Western Europe, ... I'm actually a little reticent about whether you might include America in that list, but up to you. Many do have some religious basis to their culture, laws, and lifestyle -- but you are right they don't tend to force specific religions on people. At least, not any more! They all have their foibles, but are generally progressive in their thinking and generally have a comparatively decent living standard... at least for the moment.

Commonwealth nations do still have a relious element in their opening day of parliements and when the Prime Minister takes the oath after winning a election and what sits next to speaker of the house?

God bless:)

^ That's true and even in the 1980s in primary school we still were saying the Lord's Prayer and having Scripture classes. I think too that many of the Bills of Parliament are loosely based on tenets of religion. We have holidays for Easter (whereas when I lived in Japan, Easter would often pass us by without me realising it had even come.) And there is the "So Help Me God" when swearing to give evidence in court. Still I think there is also a secular element to many of these places as well in that they do not force you to conform to religious practices. In my old school (a public school) a bunch of us were always able to skip the Scripture classes -- I was in the "Non-Scripture" group which would often go off and do some activity or other while these lessons were occurring. "Secular" I think can mean that while there may be a state religion, it is not rigidly enforced and other belief systems are at the very least respected.

That was the eighties. When I went to school, the various school commissions were religion based. That is no longer the case. At least here in Quebec, religion has been out of the schools for quite a while.
Anyway, the overall populations of the countries I mentioned are secular or moderately religious. It is not an issue when it comes to politics, unlike the situation one sees in the United States, which is unfortunate.

Religion is a perfect example of Nurture Vs Nature argrument, for example if no one wrote the bible , Jews and Palestians wouldn't be fighting over land "but" when nature has its way more than likely these two people would still be fighting over resources if relgion was not dividing them.
Humans are programmed to compete with each other , its why we have survived for so long.

Since then. Humans emerged as the next dominant species. Remember this though. We "humans" have only been around for 100,000 years.
i would disagree with this statement. I believe ants and cockroaches are the current dominant species.

Its the same in Australia, in court one does not need swear on the bible, but can make affirmations.
Schools now offer ethics classes for those who do not wish to do scripture.

It be worth looking into if the Mayans had claimed 2012 was the end of the world, but the obvious flaw is just that they didn't, so why worry about something that was never even mentioned as a possibility by the culture who made the calender?

i would disagree with this statement. I believe ants and cockroaches are the current dominant species.

My cat is pretty well convinced that she is the dominant species.

And she makes some pretty solid arguments to that effect: "Mreoowww." (="Human. Food, here, now.") "MrOW!" ("Human. Why am I not seeing food in this bowl?") "Mrrrrr." (="Human. I require attention. Put that homework down before I knock it into the same pocket universe as all those odd socks.")

QED.
