Of Conspiracies and More Conspiracies
I suppose itÂ?s all part of the human condition. We donÂ?t want our mysteries and especially tragedies to be wrapped up in neat packages, as they tend to do on TV. Instead, when things go really bad, there must be some sort of grand plot at work.
That has been true of many major events in the past few decades. Take the Kennedy assassination. Many of you find it hard to believe that a single deluded gunman was able to take down a U.S. President, and going back through time, some claim that LincolnÂ?s assassination was also part of a major conspiracy and not solely the work of John Wilkes Booth.
When it comes to such momentous events as the Lunar landings, well some say they have to be fake too. Those with a conspiratorial bent claim that certain reflections in the primitive photos released by NASA are in the wrong place, and that these voyages into space were allegedly enacted on a movie backlot or similar locale.
Then there are those inevitable UFO conspiracies. From the very first day that the Air Force told us that such things were all conventional, we refused to believe them. There was far too much evidence in the form of simultaneous visual and radar sightings, and other cases involving skilled observers who could not possibly have been fooled by normal phenomena.
It gets even stranger.
Although there is a highly credible case to be made that UFOs are solid aircraft, intelligently controlled and of unknown origin, you can certainly find evidence of government footprints as you probe various cases.
Just three days ahead of the famous sighting of nine disk-shaped objects by private pilot Kenneth Arnold in 1947, another sighting was reported over Maury Island, also in Washington state.
The Maury Island affair has proven highly controversial and we have discussed it a number of times on The Paracast. What is even more curious is the fact that one of the eyewitnesses in this encounter, the late Fred Lee Crisman, was also regarded as a possible person of interest in the Kennedy assassination. How things come full circle.
Now this all may be nothing more than an odd coincidence. While I suppose some might believe Kennedy was murdered because he planned to tell the truth about presence of UFOs, there are quite a few other factors that are more Earth-bound that might have conceivably resulted in his death. It doesnÂ?t have to be UFOs, although there are still questions about his murder that are yet to be answered.
Now it may well be that the hints of government involvement in UFO research are largely designed as a means of misdirection. Point our attention in the wrong place, and we might dismiss the whole thing as a fantasy. Or perhaps not pay attention to whatÂ?s really going on.
That takes us back to what I said in a previous commentary, that this is a conspiracy in which the perpetrators may indeed be hiding in plain sight. And that only makes it doubly difficult to get a handle on whatÂ?s really going on.
