Just a speculation if it was Soviet/Chinese device rather like Anne Jacobs book Area 51 ? Not the so called bodies at that time would have put the fear of god for local military seeing the red star painted on the side. Not ignoring test craft used for red flag events . However, too much cover up until you seen all the official document including classified it's all speculation and eyewitness reports. Also any leading up incidents of counter espionage/ odd incidents to the events to scientist or military personnel prior to Roswell or other incidents at nuclear weapons sites like author Robert Hasting great work.

It's interesting because I didn't initially think there could be any gray area. Either (based on the timeline) Roswell was Mogul or it wasn't. Some sources say the timeline is incorrect and there were no Mogul launches in July 1947 and others disagree. So ufology can't even agree on when a military exercise happened, let alone on solving the big picture lol.
