Philip Mantle began his active involvement in Ufology in the UK in 1980 when he joined the newly formed Yorkshire UFO Society. One of the first UFO cases that he investigated was that of a landing case in the West Yorkshire town of Normanton in England. This incident took place only a few miles from where he lived. The case in question was to do two things, the first was to confirm that he was not wasting his time investigating this phenomenon, and the second was to give him a lifelong interest in both UFOs and in particular UFO landing cases.

Mantle's new book, "UFO Landings UK," looks at UFO landing cases in the UK only (with the addition of the Republic of Ireland) beginning long before the modern era of UFOs began in 1947 right the way through to today. Case histories are separated into decades and come complete with photographs, documents, artwork and much more.

The case histories featured in this book are looked at for their ‘high strangeness’ value. The late Dr. J. Allen Hynek, the man who invented the phrase ‘close encounters’ suggested long ago that an area of research to concentrate on were the cases which were up close and personal, in others words UFO landing accounts. Dr. Hynek argued that the greater the degree of high strangeness the less likely it was that the UFO case in question could be explained away in conventional terms. As UFO researchers we know that most UFO sightings reported have a conventional explanation and at the end of the day there remains only a few that seem to remain ‘unidentified’.

Philip Mantle is an international UFO researcher, lecturer and broadcaster. His books have been published in six different languages around the world. He is the former Director of Investigations for the British UFO Research Association and former MUFON representative for England. Philip has written articles and features for numerous publications around the world and has been both editor and assistant editor of high street UFO publications. He is the founder of Flying Disk Press.

Could you ask him to say something about the story in his new book ( I think it was the 60s) about the man who was walking home and seen this strange glow which he thought was a car and it turned out to be a strange being.

I listen and like Philp Mantle work on the Roswell Case which has been a balanced investigation. Just reading 'the leaders in the development of the 'flying Objects ' investigations of the 1940s and 1950s by Major Keyhole 'The Flying Saucers Are Real '(1950s) still the gem of 'Flying Objects' (FBI-CIA classification in old de-classified material archives).

Major Keyhole classic quote

" On July 4, 1947 , nine huge flying disks were counted by Captain Smith and his crew. The strange objects were in sight for about twelve minutes, the crew watched them for the entire period and described them in detail later. Despite Project "Saucer"s admission that it had no answer, the A.M.C contrived one.154."

Also popular Mr Long John Nebble 's who left us some core historical material in a broadcast history in 1954 and the gem JPN - PX - as he had some famous guests some he never revealed on his show- who sat in the background. The Roswell Cases the material he was handed - plus the matching the memo he mentions listen ! .... While the excellent reporting of J. Dilmore , 'Roswell Daily Record' in 1947 , article dated June 5 , 2022' pp.1-4. is a fine read it doesn't mention the "officer " sources of the information which at that time in history was heavily censored thus I put caveat on the information. Secondly, the US history has shown the USAF changed its story more than once so who can we believe this original source and one must question it of course.

While US Congress and its Science Teams should never of gloss over 'Flying Objects -UFO-Flying Discs in history and especially Roswell Crashes. Putting a cut off dates while choosing selection as the one seems most likely Drones as part of the 'UAP' (mentioned in de-classified UAP papers in the CIA Archives ) Cases it choose to leave out the 'Flying Saucers -Flying Objects ' and smell like its a rather another coverup as in the 1950s and 1960s and 1970s. While I think some have done wonderful work in bring the field forward its just a few videos which are pretty crap and not the 'good-stuff' as US Marine Major Keyhole and USAF Captain Ruppelt suggested in their own excellent historical research interviewing high ranking sources!

Therefore , nothing has beaten these two pioneers in flying Objects investigation on 'Flying Saucers , Flying Objects and UFO-UAPs until they provide historical gun camera footage and the vast amount of interviews as researcher Stan would say its all smoke and mirrors so far. The World deserves the the truth and as LJN mentions the crash of 1955 and was bigger than Roswell. Again as the Roswell Memo states two memos were sent!! Major Keyhole left a message within the classic book ---------------------------------------

Like a picture out of a comic or TV show the bravery and witty of Dr. Who (none gender including Artificial Intelligence) vast life span seeing the future of Earth's looks good with it outer space full of thousands of wormholes and millions of spaceships with inhabited civilizations with billions of exo-planets with vast life forms.
