    Religion and Dinosaurs

Yes and vegetarianism is just a new meat eating system -- their meat is no-meat. I grew up catholic, as an adult I read the bible cover to cover a number of times. I would have say that I am not ignorant of the tents of Christianity.

    Religion and Dinosaurs

Atheism IS the rejection of the existence of god. According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary this is the definition of atheism : 2 a: a disbelief in the existence of deity b: the doctrine that there is no deity It also mentions that atheism comes from the Greek atheos which means...

    Religion and Dinosaurs

What you call a strong anti-belief system is a push back against the religious right's attempt to change America into a theocracy. Up till the last few years you rarely heard from atheists at all. I agree there are books, just as there are books on fairies. But could you please tell me what...

So is not believing in fairies a religion as well ? This is certainly not limited to the Christian god. Every religion has rituals that glorify the god of choice. Don't stop there. This is only one of the many things that don't make sense around a supreme being as we generally envision...

    Religion and Dinosaurs

As an atheist I think it is believing in god that limits people. Just look at the past and how often religion has tried to squash science. How many people today ignore the facts that evolution is based on because they don't fit in with their god belief. Being an atheist does not mean I have...

Here is the short form. I don't want to get murdered. You don't want to get murdered. It is bad to get murdered. Let's make a rule, no one is allowed to murder anyone else. I have stuff I don't want stolen. You have stuff you don't want stolen. It is bad to steal stuff. Lets make a rule no one...

Just for the record. I never thought you were a "gun nut'. Your post made it clear that you are for sane gun control and I think in my reply I said that I agreed with you. You sound sane and responsible about gun ownership. I just wish more people were as sane as you are about the issue.

I guess I didn't -- LOL Oh and my response to "divine plan" or "god's plan" is "THIS is the plan ???"

Actually -- IF you believe in god -- then it is god that kills people because he created people in the first place. :)

Using that logic we should not blame the drug, but the drug user. Yet we don't. The drug is bad, we are told that every day ... DRUGS ARE BAD!! Of course the drugs themselves are no more bad than guns are. BUT when people USE drugs or when people USE guns that is where the problem arises. We...

This sound remarkably like something said by the Reverend Parsley, a fundamentalist minister. You can hear how America was founded in part to destroy Islam here http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1502176862537607516&q=parsley+preacher+islam&ei=AnMzSKnVJ5HQ4ALrm4jmCQ&hl=en and here...

I couldn't agree more. But I have no real desire to do that. I really don't care what people want to believe in -- as long as they are not trying to run MY life and the lives of others by those beliefs. The Amish seem to be able to live by their rules without trying to force the rest of us...

And therein lies the rub. I firmly believe that if you asked most believers if they have actually read the bible if they were to answer truthfully, they would say no. Most believers take their belief from the religious leaders and not from the holy books they profess to believe in.

I couldn't agree more. Fortunately I had recorded it so I didn't have to watch commercials as well. Shortly after the show started my partner and I turned it into the latest installment of Mystery Science theater 3000
