A Memo to People Who Believe in Extraterrestrial UFOs
You may not like what I’m going to say, and maybe it’s better that you not read any further. So if you set this issue aside -- or simply unsubscribe -- I’ll understand.
Now it’s the prevailing opinion in the UFO field that the flying discs are extraterrestrial in origin. That viewpoint was reached early on, and the logic would appear to make sense at first glance.
So you have reports of apparent metallic objects that can be seen and simultaneously tracked on radar. They can be photographed and they have a physical impact on our environment. Since they are demonstrably real, and since we clearly have no aircraft that has the potential to exhibit such advanced technology, they must come from another world.
I suppose all of this seems to make sense. When you consider the troubling reports of UFO abductions, involving apparent close encounters with aliens, it’s easy to conclude that the ET theory is tested and proven, so the most important thing left to do is to persuade Earthly governments to reveal the truth they surely know about the presence of UFOs on our planet.
The problem with surface impressions is that they don’t always sustain themselves when you pore beneath the surface. More years ago than I care to remember, I started suggesting in my published works that the real answer to the UFO enigma remained unknown, that the ET hypothesis, or ETH, shouldn’t be taken as gospel. Other possibilities had to be considered.
One of the troubling aspects of the evidence is that, by and large, it consists of strange things seen on Earth, not in outer space. Sure you can talk all you want about faces on Mars and possible artificial artifacts on the red planet and on the Moon, but we will never whether or not they are simply optical illusions until we actually visit those places, or the evidence reveals itself from the various space probes we have dispatched over the years.
Another troublesome factor is that, when they chose to communicate with us, the alleged aliens seem to be extremely concerned with the health of our planet. In the early days, our visitors supposedly demanded that we stop nuclear testing, and other acts that threaten to destroy our environment. UFOs are often seen over nuclear power plants or reconnoitering military bases.
Why should they care?
I suppose there is something to be said about the possibility that we are being examined by emissaries of a galactic federation that, if we get our acts together, will permit us to join the Space Brotherhood. But wasn’t that he fundamental plot line of the 1951 science fiction flick “The Day the Earth Stood Still”? And, by the way, I choose to ignore that recent and utterly pathetic remake.
But what if the source of UFOs and loads of other paranormal events is far closer to home, such as our own planet? Have you ever considered the possibility that those allegedly alien visitors are actually beings that have coexisted with us since the dawn of time?
Consider that interactions with strange flying machines and weird entities may be found through all of recorded history. Sometimes we regarded them as emissaries from God. At other times, they are described as mischievous creatures that are meant to do us harm.
Regardless, the UFO mystery has always been a part of our culture in one form or another.
If you’ve stayed with me so far, may I recommend you expand your horizons and read the excellent final work from the late Mac Tonnies, entitled “The Cryptoterrestials." The content is implicit in the title, and it represents a theory that Mac developed in the final years of his far-too-short life.
The book is spare, a mere 128 pages in length. Perhaps Mac intended to flesh out some of the chapters had he time to continue to work on the book, but the fates intervened. However, it is rich with solid information and informed speculation that promise to forever change your worldview about the strange things that continue to occur around us.
“The Cryptoterrestrials” ships on March 15. You can order your copy direct from any major bookseller, such as Amazon Books. It’s just $12.00 plus shipping, and you can read it from cover to cover in a single evening. Prepare for a truly enlightening experience. You may never feel the same about paranormal events.
Peace,
