I would severely injure or kill any pig bastard that did this to my grandmother.

There are always two sides to every story - then there is the truth; if you are lucky it is in the middle and not off to the far side...

that only counts if someone hasn't taken a video with a cell phone...

What would I do if that were my grandmother? Start a viral marketing campaign featuring her and the "Don't taze me bro!" meme, then retire in six months.

I would be astonished as both my grandmothers have been dead for quite some time...

Both of my Grandma's,(both deceased) would have been more cooparative and would not have escalated the situation as this one obviously did.

It appears this firebrand came into this with a negative history with law enforcement iow she doesn't like cops. Her attitude was challenging and was actually daring the cop to do something. what?

    No pity here.

If it were my grandmother I would have told her she was an idiot for not signing a fricking speeding ticket and being a bitch about it.

Seriously. Sign the damned ticket, go home. Cry to the judge later. Over. Just because someone is old does not mean that they can't be an ass.

She is in Texas -- hell, she's lucky she wasn't shot. The officer showed restraint by using the taser.

    Weak.
I have been voluntarily tasered. It's not the kind of thing you do to an old lady. She had no weapon. Are you telling me that sociopathic sack of pig shit couldn't handle an old lady with one hand?
Pussies like you are why America sucks.

Pussies like me? She resisted arrest. People like you with no respect for law and order are the problem. Maybe he could have handled her, but then we would have had a video of a police "beating up" an old lady.

If you watch the film he did try to "handle her with one hand" more than once and she yanked away and said she was going to get back in her car. Only after that did he taser her to subdue her.

All she had to do was sign the ticket and go home. This is all on her.

When a policeman tells you to put your hands behind your back, put your damned hands behind your back. Plenty of time to work out who was right, wrong and all the details later.

I apologize for exploding there. My grandmother went to the Happy Hunting Grounds recently. Maybe I'm being oversensitive. It was wrong of me to call you a pussy. You may be very tough for all I know.
I have no respect for petty laws. This thing you call "order" I call oppression.
The constable in this video, could have very easily said "hey you need to slow it down, Miss." Instead he took action that could have potentially killed her over a 150 dollar fine.
If that's how you feel about your family, fine.
    I feel differently.

The fact of the matter is this... undue force is obvious here. Unless she's some tai chi expert, he should have been able to restrain her without requiring anything but his hands and his training.

Or unless she had a Derringer concealed on her somewhere? How does anyone know?

He tried to restrain her twice and she yanked away.

    1. She signs the ticket and goes home, none of this happens.

    or

    2. She puts her hands behind her back when told to do so, none of this happens.

Just because she is old does not make her innocent or not dangerous. This is her fault. Plain and simple.

You people are acting like resisting arrest is not serious. It is, regardless of age. It is very serious.

And, the officer used what is considered non-lethal force to subdue her. Had he continued trying to physically subdue, which already failed twice, he would have had to use more force and maybe bruised her or injured her in some way. She was NOT cooperating.

What, should he just let her go?

It's really pretty simple - when a policeman tells you to put your hands behind your back, PUT .... YOUR .... DAMNED .... HANDS .... BEHIND .... YOUR .... BACK.

It seems we have a lot of people that feel that it is OK to resist when you don't think arrest is justified. That is not how it works. You get processed, and then the court decides whether it is justified.

Go down to the station, then if they did something wrong, get it straightened out later. They are not going to put you in a fricking torture cell.

Maybe she just forgot to flash her PBA card.

Yeah, she was in the wrong, but so was he. I've seen cops tackle and restrain large, gangster looking fellows... he could have handled a granny without a taser. Two wrongs don't make a right etc etc...

Are you by chance a cop? If so, I advise you to enjoy the federal and state funding that allows you the luxury of justifying the roughing up of grandmas while it lasts. It won't last forever.

I am not a cop, and I have never been one and I am not in law enforcement. And, no, none of my family is either. But I respect them and what they do greatly.

I see by the way you address law enforcement officers as 'pigs' and 'sacks of pig shit' you are obviously anti-establishment and don't hold them in such high regard.

Our different views on law and law enforcement are the basis of this disagreement, for sure.

All four of my grandparents are dead. And, strangely enough, none of them ever even gave a policeman a reason to arrest them. Imagine that.

I have a late uncle who got speeding tickets all the time. Never got arrested or resisted arrest. And yet all of his rights and privileges under the constitution were intact to his dying day. Imagine that.

And, what's with the "federal funding while it lasts" stuff? Geez, what a nut.

I apologize to themacx, my energies were misspent on the image. A more appropriate image, apparently, is below.

I have got to agree with bobheck on this one.

I dont like police, in my opinion they are mostly bullys or people that got bullied at school who wanna get even.

Saying that they are still the police, if you dont do what they say you get whats comeing to you.

I wish the police in England were aloud to do things like that, then you wouldnt get 16 year olds beating up cops/people every friday night.

I'd rather have a no nonsense police force thana pussy one.

    (soz about my spelling)

Why must we have polarized opinions about this? Both parties were at fault. The Grandma dared the officer to taze her and take her top jail, so he did. I would have preferred that he take another course of action, or just handcuffed her without tazing. I would have also preferred that Grandma could have been more polite and cooperative.

I really cant decide if the officer or Grandma acted most foolishly. It's a toss-up.
