Some of you awakened today to find a generic page rather than our regular sites.

No, it wasn't because we were hacked by government agents or Internet criminals.

It was all due to a data center issue, where they gave us an IP number that didn't point to the server. As you can gather, this caused a bit of confusion until things settled down.

It may be a few days before everything is clean and green again, but if you see the old version of the forum on another server, remember that it'll be turned off, so you can't post there. :)

I was actually worried that something bad had happened to the Paracast. I saw that something was wrong when I couldn't get the iTunes feed to work, and then I went to the site and I saw that strange page. I thought the worst - I'm glad I was completely wrong.

Well, there's also the issue of DNS propagation, where it takes up to 72 hours for a new site or a site on a new server to be available around the world. Till then, you just see the old version — which is why we turned off the old forum. The Internet is confusing enough as it is.

Well things are really settling down now. Looks like most of our listeners are reaching the new server now, and our download count of the current episode is really off the charts. Far more than I anticipated. Thanks to all of you.

Speaking of server glitches, here's a big time failure:

    This made me giggle.

"Amazon is down. Retreat to your bunkers. Arm yourselves. Remember that cannibalism is a good way to prevent potential zombies."

    Now thats witty.
