"So, you're dying to know where all this magic is happening aren't you? Middlesex is a small town with a population of less than 2,000 residents right inside Yates County, New York. It is here, in the ridge of Newell Road, that you can find the area known as "Spook Hill." Spook Hill has rightfully earned its name by being one of New York's gravity hills!

"If you venture out to Newell Road, you'll want to stop your car just before you reach a driveway and Spike Road on your left, then place your car in neutral. Once you place your car in neutral, it is then you will find that your car is moving backwards...uphill! While this strange phenomenon is most popularly demonstrated with a car, it is also said to have worked with people on bikes, general round objects and even water.

"Due to the fact that the surrounding areas have been known to have haunted tendencies, many have speculated that the reason you find yourself going backwards is simply because you're being pushed by ghosts! Legend has it that near Canandaigua Lake lies a Native American burial ground, causing the area to have a very creepy vibe. If you're not into believing that paranormal forces could be playing a role in your everyday life, then you may be one of the many to wonder if there maybe lies an easier solution here. Some believe that what's actually happening at Spook Hill is an optical illusion or even something along the lines of magnetism!

TEXT: "Published on Oct 11, 2013: Legend has it that if you put your car in neutral at a certain spot on Newell Road in Middlesex, Native American spirits (whose bodies are buried near by) will push your car back up the hill. So is there any truth to this? Well, yes there is a Native American burial ground near by -- just down the road on the hair pin turn on North Vine Valley Rd near the Canandaigua Lake. (FYI: about 100 years ago, a gentleman unearthed a Native American who was sitting halfway up with a pipe in his hand)."
"Intriguing, huh? If this sort of thing is right up your alley but you don’t live quite close to Middlesex, you can also find very similar gravity hills in Portville and Suffern, New York! Have you ever been to any of these hills, and if so what was your experience like?"
