Here's a great idea that I've added to our community: There's a new icon on our home page, in the area where our forums, descriptions and last posts are listed. You'll see a vertical row of three icons. The one in the middle, which looks a bit like a document with a fold on the bottom right, lets you open a new thread without opening the specific forum. It goes direct, just by clicking on the tiny icon. I realize this feature may not be so easy to see at first look, especially if your vision isn't quite as good as it used to be, but you'll want to test it out and see how it works.
