New scientific discovery gives hope for life on Mars.

Life on earth probably began much earlier than previously thought, according to new research. According to the scientists, life originated some 4.1 billion years ago. That's 300 million years earlier than previous studies have suggested. If the findings are confirmed, the earth has not come "alive" long after her birth (4.54 billion years ago).

The new research suggests that living beings existed on Earth before our planet was hit 3.9 billion years ago through countless comets and asteroids, known as the late heavy bombardment. If life was completely extinct during this bombardment, then life almost immediately re-emerged again, as they have evidence that 3.8 billion years ago microbes have lived on earth.

Scientists have long been of the opinion that the Earth was a dry and desolate world about 4 billion years ago. however, several studies showed a different picture. Presumably the earth was about 500 million years after its inception, a viable world with vast oceans and mild temperatures.

These studies also shed new light on our neighboring planets such as Mars and Venus. As researchers believe that Mars was a viable world about 4 billion years ago, with almost the same conditions as we had on Earth with vast oceans and mild temperatures, then life could have evolved on Mars much faster and earlier then previously thought.
