Andrew B. Colvin show

I would like to say to that i thought it was a good show Andy and you made some good points,I think that what ever peoples opinions of what you had to say at least we have a show such as the Paracast to hear them and i hope you come back and can go into more detail about some of the points people are bringing up.

i'd like to get my 2 cents in here but by time i'm done it will be closer to 25 cents

Andy, if you're stlll reading this thread i do have to put in a bit of a disclaimer to my post

the biggest reason why i joined this forum was because one of the moderator's is christopher o'brien, i am quite a fan boy of his in that i ate up his stalking the tricksters book and i must have listened to over 40+ various podcasts he did in his follow up of the book, i have no problems admitting this.

If there is any one aspect of the paranormal that i could sink my teeth into it is the concept of synchronicity, as this plays itself out nearly every day in my life i've read (or more acurately tried to understand) much of Jung's writings on this and on the field of collective (un)consciousness and archtypes and symbols, which lead me off into joseph campbell but that's another story

to that end the reason why i think i jumped onto Chris's bandwagon was his very forward thinking (and as of yet unproven) theory about the trickster phenomona. As with any theory it may have a few holes and can't really be verified (has anybody out there ever seen a string as in string theory, if so i'd like to hear about it) but that's the cool and risky thing about theories, that somebody is willing to stick their neck out and let the chips fall where they may. there's a lot of merit in that as even if a theory may falter someone else can always come along and plug up some of the holes

From what i've seen and heard about you Andy ,you are very much in that realm and so it was with great anticipation i was listening to the show. I have your recent C2C appearence on my to do list and i've yet to hear the greg bishop one but that's also on the list

Now let me say right here, neither myself or for that matter, anyone on this board are in a position to judge you or pretend to know your life's circumstances but i have to honestly say when i heard your show my PERCEPTION was that you were maybe unconsciously trying too hard, that is, you were trying to find an answer in many places to where there was no question. As i said i whole heartedly accept synchronicity without question, i have on my cellphone a wallpaper of fox mulder's "I want to believe" poster as i not only want to believe, i do 100%, at least in time dilation and meaningful coincidences no matter who brings them about be it God, mothman, the trickster energy or Lady Gaga. but even i have a point where i stop and say "wait a minute sometimes things happen because they happen, nothing more, nothing less.

i can honestly say i could not hold a candle to either you or chris when it comes to researching but i have heard of many cases where investigators let this phenom get the best of them and they get sucked down into the rabbit hole and they're goners, i have a friend who is a self described p/t investigator and i can see him getting all caught up in it and i am concerned for him as he seems to think there's a spook behind evrey tree, and it was in this frame of mind i was when i posted my thoughts on your appearence

On forums such as these, everyone has a role to play and personalites really do start to come through, no matter how much we may try to restrain ourselves. The role i've taken upon myself is to be the smart-a** believer, i'll give the 'skepts a listen but i have no issues with defending my beliefs with gusto. i do tend to fancy myself a wit and it's all too easy to cross the line into snarkiness and upon reviewing my post i have to admit i crossed into that territory and for that i apologize. theres constructive criticism and then there's just plain meaness and when it comes to quips and as such i do get caught up in it , i'm like a shark who smells blood in the water

I'm still a nkotb around here and it took me only 3-4 posts to get on someone's nerves, it was not my intention but as the thread dragged on it turned out that i made the right call after all and imho the offending post was some of my best work and i think, a real beaut. but it did call attention to behaving responsibly here and it's doesn't take a lot for me to loose my focus. in my defense i have a VERY self depricating sense of humor but that transaltes into a very andy depricating or bill depricating sense of humor as well (i'm sure you get the point) so at least i'm an equal oppurtunity depricator...if such a thing exists.

So, in summary, i'm sorry, please come back on the really big shoe again (with moderation) , and welcome to the boards and sorry about the initial run on paragraphs

I enjoyed the show. Food for thought on some of the stuff.
You have to wonder growing up surrounded by all that Mothman tradition and folklore how it would at least bend, if not warp, your sense of reality anyway.

Actually, there was no Mothman tradition or folklore associated with my growing up there. I didn't even know it was called "Mothman" until I found Keel's book - which was unknown in WV - until the 1990s. I didn't know that anyone (Keel) had connected all of the weird phenomena associated with it. I just remembered that one kid and the 9/11 prophecy, and that there had a been a few news reports about a flying man. I knew there was some strangeness involved in my childhood, but I had very little context for it. I grew up wanting to be a basketball player or an artist, and that's about it.

So, when I did finally find out about Keel, I started researching the Garuda which - in answer to someone else's post about what possible value Mothman might have in relation to assassinations - actually DOES explain why JFK conspirators and all the rest are of import. Because once you understand what the Garuda is about - revealing crimes and misdemeanors - then you see that he is pointing to an ongoing series of crimes that threaten our way of life and may, in fact, threaten our very lives as a collective whole.

So, it didn't warp or bend my sense of "reality," whatever that is, because our reality now is basically a media construct. In a land where everyone is continually mind controlled - from cradle to grave - to believe false memes and false histories, one could actually argue that I have a clearer sense of reality because my experiences have caused me to question the artificial construct that we have here in the land of "free."

So, do you think people like "specialists" more than multi-specialists - those who have a broader range of knowledge? If I confined myself to only one thing, then people would complain that it doesn't link up to other areas enough. You can't win with some people.

I just read your post, no, but you have to agree that it is indeed unusual. I don't confine myself to an 'iron corset' in my interests either, but the sheer amount of anomalous things you talked about/experienced left me somewhat perplexed. It felt to me like a Time Life book of the strange and fortean, which isn't a bad thing per se at all. :)

Good public speakers are often assholes. And a lot of them went through advanced training on how to fit into today's media culture, which is all about soundbites and empty thinking. And a lot of them are co-opted by the spooks. The leading lights in any field are the first ones they go after, and the leading lights are often keeping other, more controversial and truthful theories from seeing the light of day. A case in point is Loren Coleman and Jerome Clark. Clark keeps the lid on the cattle mutes, and Coleman keeps the lid on Mothman. They have actually managed to have me completely removed from the Mothman Wikipedia page. Where my reference used to be, there are now new references to both of them. They seem to "own" the editors at Wikipedia, and it is a sad state of affairs, because it results in a dumbing down of the field. Spooks + Dupes = Ufology Group.
.

Welcome to the forum Andy, I disagree with some on the forum in that I actually enjoyed the show although you seemed not to be paying attention at times (reading about MJ12) which I don't think I have EVER encountered on any podcast before.

I appreciated your insight into the mothman sightings but the highlighted posts won't aid your cause as you seem to come to conclusions through massive generalizations and weak coincidental associations. I was going to stay out of it until I saw some of your post which unfortunately exhibits this tendency of yours spreading beyond the paranormal?

Again, I enjoyed the show because you are very familiar with the mothman sightings, but I completely disagree with your conclusions.

Everybody check this video:

A "good public speaker" can be trained so that the people hearing him or her will tell everyone how great his or her lecture was, but when asked to review some of the content of the talk, they can't remember a thing because there actually was no content.

It's funny how our brains can be hacked and our impressions manipulated. But, the more people around the world know and accept this, the better the world will be.
