Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung was never one to shy away from controversy. When Zentralblatt für Psychotherapie endorsed Mein Kampf without his approval, Jung attempted to eradicate pro-Nazi influence from his publication.1 He parted ways with Sigmund Freud, who once called Jung “his adopted eldest son, his crown prince and successor,” over differing theories on the unconscious. And, as the sex scenes so dispassionately depicted in A Dangerous Method suggested, he was comfortable with disregarding sexual and professional taboos, including bondage, spanking, and a liaison with a patient-turned-student.2

For his final act, Jung cast an analytical eye on UFOs.

Swann Auction Galleries has unearthed a 1957 missive Jung sent to New Republic editor Gilbert A. Harrison on the paranormal phenomena, in which he anticipates a publication that would prove to be his last. “Being rather old, I have to economise my energies,” Jung concludes, politely declining what he vaguely refers to as Harrison’s “proposal.” The editor presumably solicited an article on UFOs; Jung had already committed to writing a forthcoming book on the subject. Flying Saucers: A Modern Myth of Things Seen in the Skies would be published two years after the letter was sent, which was also two years before he died. 3

Jung’s approach to UFOs was binary. Although “the psychological aspect is so impressive, that one almost must regret that UFOs seem to be real after all,” his extensive research led him to conclude there was “no certainty about their very nature.” He reserved judgment as to whether or not the preponderance of UFO sightings meant that spacecrafts had actually visited Earth, manned or operated by extraterrestrial beings from other planets. Jung found “overwhelming material pointing to their legendary or mythological aspect,” suggesting the very concept of UFOs left an indelible mark on the human psyche. In Flying Saucers, Jung wrote:

In the threatening situation of the world today, when people are beginning to see that everything is at stake, the projection-creating fantasy soars beyond the realm of earthly organizations and powers into the heavens, into interstellar space, where the rulers of human fate, the gods, once had their abode in the planets…. Even people who would never have thought that a religious problem could be a serious matter that concerned them personally are beginning to ask themselves fundamental questions. Under these circumstances it would not be at all surprising if those sections of the community who ask themselves nothing were visited by visions,' by a widespread myth seriously believed in by some and rejected as absurd by others.

Swann is auctioning the letter this week, which it estimates to be worth $2,000-3,000.00, as part of its three-day "Autographs" auction in New York City.

Eric W. Davis, formerly a contract research physicist atNASA's Breakthrough Propulsion Physics Project, which ran from1996 through to 2002, gave a lecture in 2010 where he respondedto the question of UFOs as they pertain to potential physics fortraversable wormholes, warp drives, and anti-gravity. Sponsoredby the Society for Scientific Exploration, the lecture was abouta then recently published book, Frontiers of Propulsion Science,that discussed discoveries from the NASA project.

After the lecture, during a question and answer session, one questionerasked whether, "...properties of UFOs had guided the thinkingand research of that initiative." In responding to the question,Dr. Davis said, "Secretly yes and overtly no."In giving a reason for the secrecy, he stated that, "UFOs don'thave credibility with mainstream academic researchers," andthat, "...policy makers and decision-makers in charge of fundingand programatics ... don't want to hear the topic of UFOs. So,for the purpose of doing this officially, [we didn't bring inUFOs], but we did consider it under the table."Dr. Davis was a technical consultant to the NASA project.

He obtained a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Arizona in 1991, was a cofounder of a joint NASA-JSC's Advanced Deep SpaceTransport Technology Assessment group studying advanced propulsion physics, and has authored several papers on zero-point vacuum physics for propulsion as well as the potential of traversable wormholes.

Delving further into the subject, Dr. Davis noted that some had,"...looked at all the physical events and physical descriptions[of UFO data] provided by researchers such as [Jaques Vallee,George Hathaway, and the unnamed questioner]."

He described twoevents that took place at the NIDS Utah Ranch of, "...one scientist and one researcher seeing a wormhole, what looked like a wormhole, with a creature crawling through." In the second event, "...the ranch owners had seen an opening in the sky inbroad daylight with a triangular craft that came through it." Dr. Davis then compared these observations with known wormhole physics. "...that's an example of data that indicates a wormhole involved. Geometry tells you what a wormhole looks like when itintersects our space. It appears as [an intensely bright] point of light and then, as the intersection gets larger and larger,it opens up and you begin to see the hole." At that point, he noted, objects could traverse the wormhole.

Discussing the matter of UFOs and warp drives, Dr. Davis stated that, "We haven't seen performances that adhere to the warpdrive because ...basically it's just between stars and we don'tsee UFOs warping anywhere. We see them doing ninety-degree turns and rapid motions. They disappear and reappear. That is undetermined yet."He finally commented on the matter of anti-gravity, "...we haveanti-gravity in Einstein's General Theory of Relativity. ...There are aspects of anti-gravity, the properties of negative vacuum energy, that would create a repulsive force that allows something to levitate up. And UFOs do exhibit that."

In explaining how, he referred to Dr. Hal Puthoff's PolarizedVacuum Model where, "...instead of space-time [in traditional Relativity], you envision space-time as a polarized vacuum of a quantum zero point fluctuations. And, if you exert a field onthat medium, the fluctuations are polarized, [and] that creates a space-time bending effect similar to warp drive and wormholes. We see that in aspects of what's predicted."

The Breakthrough Propulsion Physics Project was disbanded at NASA in 2002 due to funding shortfalls. Dr. Davis is now a research physicist at the Institute for Advanced Studies-Austin, and is CEO of the company Warp Drive Metrics.

He is currently scheduled to speak at the 2013 MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) symposium.

Some Thoughts on Disclosure

People keep talking about "disclosure" and finding ways to persuade the U.S. Government, the private sector or the President himself to disclose all information about ETs, UFOs etc.

However, if one considers the most reliable information currently available on this issue, in combination to the experience of those who call themselves "abductees", the secrecy regarding this subject appears to be out of the hands of the government or private sector but instead something enforced by the ETs.

Here are some general "facts" regarding the UFO/Abduction phenomenon based on the research done in this field which I believe that most, if not all, researchers in this field agree on:

1. The ETs abduct human beings on a regular basis and in family trees and they perform various medical procedures with the purpose of using in some manner their genetic material. Occasionally, the abductees have some kind of "spiritual message" from the ETs and claim that they have been chosen for some higher purpose.

2. Some top secret group of the military/private/government sector cooperates with the ETs in order to ensure that the ET presence and activities remain secret. Regardless the passing of time and political changes in the government, the agenda and activities of this group remain unaffected.

3. One or more ET races have made some kind of agreement with the U.S. Government which benefits both sides. The government acquires scientific and technological knowledge from the ETs and the ETs are allowed to operate without interference and in complete secrecy.

4. For ETs to be able to travel to Earth and regardless of their true nature (aliens, inter-dimensional beings, time travellers etc) they must be technologically very advanced, far surpassing our own level.

5. There seems to be a great effort from the part of the U.S. Government to ridicule and at the same time hide anything that has to do with UFOs and ETs, including its own interest on this subject.

If one assumes 1-5 to be true then one can conclude the following:

A. If the ETs wanted to make their presence known to the public they could have very easily done so regardless of what any government in the world wished given their technological superiority.Therefore, the ETs do not want to reveal their presence to the public.

B. The ETs seem to be interested exclusively on human genetic material. There are no reports regarding ETs showing an interest to human culture, technology, art, history etc. All of their activities seem to be of purely biological nature.

So, what if the enforcement of secrecy on this issue is not something that the government chose to do but instead it is the wish (or command) of the ETs and the government has no choice in this matter?

Since it is clear that ETs only care for the human genetic material it makes sense that their presence remains secret, else such an activity would result in a public outrage, chaos and violence.

Some abductees carry various "spiritual messages" and in a few cases scientific information. But if one excludes those fabricating such messages because they have a Messiah complex, it is possible that this is simply a trick the ETs use in order to manipulate the psychology of the abductees and make them less upset for the painful and continuous (usually lifelong) medical procedures by making them believe that they serve some "higher purpose" for the good of humanity. Like when governments make soldiers happily fight for oil and the benefit of large corporations by making them believe that they protect their home from ruthless terrorists with weapons of mass destruction.

If the ETs truly had some important message to give to humanity, scientific or spiritual, why not contact intelligent and highly educated people who are known and respected around the world? Surely, that's the way to ensure that this message or information is better utilised and spread. Therefore, it looks like there is no real message or genuine interest for the benefit of the human race.

If the situation is as described above then there is no way one can persuade any government or officials in the know to publicly disclose the ET presence. They will not do it because they have no choice in the matter with possible dramatic repercussions for the whole human race. Perhaps some officials who do not like this situation find ways to rebel and leak documents and information but they always make sure that this is done in a way that will not provoke the ETs: mixing facts with fiction so that most people will disregard and ridicule the information.

If this is really the case then the human race is no longer free and government disclosure is the least of our concerns!

Don Crosbie Donderi, PhD, a scientist who studies human vision and memory, looks at the UFO evidence and concludes that

Some UFOs are extraterrestrial vehicles
Some ET vehicles have ET crews
Some ET crews “catch and release” humans: they study us.

Don Donderi is a management consultant and former academic who began his career with IBM where he helped to develop a navigation system for the B‑52 bomber. He then joined the Faculty of Science of McGill University, where he taught undergraduate psychology, trained PhD students and served as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research.

He has written over one hundred research papers and technical reports dealing with the science of human visual perception and memory. He co-authored one textbook and edited another. He co-founded a management consulting company and has carried out research and development projects for private and government clients on topics including flight instrumentation, flight simulation, marine navigation in ocean and arctic environments, nuclear power plant safety and chemical process engineering.
His undergraduate education was at the University of Chicago (B.A. and B.Sc. in biological psychology) and he holds a PhD in experimental psychology from Cornell University. He is married, has two grown children, and lives in Montreal.

"The Glades" TV Show...a small rant

So, my wife turned on an episode of The Glades where they slammed the whole UFO phenomenon. A UFO "buff" was killed by a couple of guys who made it look like a UFO abduction/slaying gone horribly bad. It was the typical, cookie-cutter UFO slam programming where there was something that appeared UFO-ish occurring but it was all explained away as something very normal by the end of the program. Then, the last scene, the main character was sitting outside looking up at the sky when he sees some red lights in a pattern. As he's watching the lights streak away at incredible speeds. As typical the program mocked the UFO phenomenon, made people interested in UFO's appear to be geeks, idiots, and laughable jokes in society, but ended with a "but what if..." question scene that was supposed to leave the phenomenon 'open' to possibility.

It irritated me to no end.

Speaking of irritation, I'm watching an episode of Weird or What and they have David Hatcher-Childress on right now. Ugh.

You either followed the Citizen Hearing on Disclosure last week or you didn’t, so attempting a rehash of what happened at Washington’s National Press Club in this small space would be like trying to cram an orca into a Mason jar. And considering how De Void managed only a cursory scan of events from afar, a decent analysis is implausible.

What most intrigued De Void were the Yale-educated Cahn’s credentials, which include the authorship of a 1968 study calledHunger, USA. Special counsel to and speechwriter for Attorney General Robert Kennedy and a distinguished scholar at the London School for Economics, Cahn went on to develop the Time Dollars project, a tax-exempt, service-credit currency program that serves poor communities in the U.S. and more than two dozen countries abroad.

But one especially noteworthy blurb lit De Void’s radar screen and it concerned neither the witnesses nor the six retired politicians who listened to their testimony in a congressional inquiry-style format. This was Alejandro Rojas’ Open Minds Magazine interview with law professor emeritus Edgar Cahn, who told Rojas that what he heard last Friday was “very compelling, very exciting,” and “very disturbing,” especially regarding the implications of hoarding technology leads that could theoretically create a “sustainable planet.”

De Void contacted Cahn on a followup phoner to see if the old civil rights attorney was having any second thoughts about supporting a United Nations-sponsored inquiry into The Great Taboo, as well as pressuring Congress to launch its own formal investigation. Cahn, who had no prior interest in UFOs and attended Friday’s session at the invitation of a friend, brushed off the notion he might get cold feet.

“I was one of the first people to do any research on hunger in America at a time when everybody denied its existence,” he said. “The only studies that had been done were by vitamin companies on the affluent; they said there might be some vitamin deficiencies here and there, but there was no indication of the magnitude and distribution of malnutrition in this country.”

Underwritten with foundation resources, Cahn’s year-long Hunger, USA study “at the very least shifted the burden of proof to the government to defend its position,” he recalls. “I even debated the Secretary of Agriculture who said there was no hunger in America. I had to tell him there are no newborn babies who can eat peanut butter.”

Given how last week’s UFO hearing was his first exposure to the issue, and given the “obvious” questions raised by a multinational cast of witnesses whose credentials impressed him, Cahn had a flashback to Official America’s initial resistance to the existence of malnutrition in the world’s richest nation. As with today, the media voiced plenty of skepticism — but with one significant distinction.
“There was sort of a disbelief in the media back then,” Cahn says. “You had to almost make it political battle, with an enemy, and in this case we were going against congressional districts where farmers were getting paid subsidies not to grow certain things. That got their attention.

“So it’s one thing for them to say, ‘We don’t know.’ But it’s another thing entirely for the media not to demand transparency from its government and to ridicule what it doesn’t know. If a politician charges taxicab fare for a pleasure trip, investigative reporters will be all over the case. But with such a massive amount of material on UFOs, with such cumulative experiences, they’re not willing to suspend disbelief? You almost need an investigation into why this is. I don’t think there’s a conspiracy involved, but more of a fear of looking foolish.”

Cahn says dedicated transparency advocates should collaborate with foundations or academic institutions to fund a commission to “challenge the executive branch for withholding information in the public interest,” he says. “That goes to the separation of powers, and Congress has an obligation to obtain that information. I’d go to a state where there have been numerous sightings, gather about 200, 300 people who’ve seen these things, and get them to gang up on their congressmen or senators as constituents who vote.

“You can also get a lot of energy from teenagers. I’d find a way to teenagers involved, because teenagers can be persistent and they don’t shut up and they should demand to know what’s going on in our universe.” At age 78, Cahn sounds like he’s ready for another campaign. Having his intelligence insulted by institutional indifference — media and otherwise — really puts the fire in him. “I’ve been in the trenches for awhile,” he says, “and I’m not afraid to get back in.”

Tim Printy, publisher of the skeptical newsletter SUNlite says that we should consider the Fox Lake Sighting as solved, citing Ted Molczan, who claims to have identified the source of the UFO report as the rocket booster from COSMOS 2335 re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere. Ted and his group are actually a really interesting bunch ( check out the link ), but personally, I'm a bit skeptical of the skeptics being so certain about this explanation ... here's a thread starter ...

Ive recently just got this book, well I say recently,I got it at Christmas. Anyway I started and got through the first few chapters, and as often happens I put it down and forgot pick it up again. One thing I found though, I felt like I was being told a story but not in a believable way, if anything, "too precise" and " too clear". I know details in a UFO book shouldn't be used as a criticism, but it felt odd reading it. I think I just dont believe anyone could have such perfect memory of events so far back, especially insignificant snippets of childhood and early life. I got the impression I was being shown this perfect idea and the details were there to convince rather than shape the experience.

Should I give it another go, what did you think of the book?
